NRL Round 22 Team of the Week & Player Stats

0

What a week of NRL action it was, star performances, hard working players giving it their all, and win for the Titans, who knew. But surprise Sunday afternoon results aside, we dive into who were the players that were the best of the best this week in the NRL. Let our NRL Round 22 Team of the Week explain.

We have taken some of the key stats and assign various scoring methods against them, all in the good intention of making the various types of stats even out across the position.

An explanation of what is included and points assigned is right at the bottom.

This may be all good in hindsight, but could also help the odd desperate Supercoach player, or down on his luck sports gambling investor.

It’s time to unveil the NRL Round 22 Team of the Week, so enjoy.

NRL Round 22 Key Player Stats

Want to see which players topped the key stats for Round 21 of the NRL?

Help yourself to the below.

A FEW BARELY INTERESTING STATS:

  • Tohu Harris’ 234 run metres this weekend was the highest return for any Warriors player in a single game this season. In fact, three of the top four individual run metre efforts for the Warriors season came this weekend.
  • Only six times this season has a player made more than 60 tackles. There were two this weekend. Damian Cook (2), Cameron Murray and Reuben Cotter are the other players to manage the feat.
  • Sharks player Teig Wilton joins a rare club for 2022 NRL Player Stats – only five players this have have given up 1+ Errors, 1+ Penalties, 1+ Ruck Infringement and 1+ Sin Bin in the same game.
    • Teig Wilton R22
    • Anthony Milford R18
    • Coen Hess R15
    • Elliott Whitehead R15
    • Jeremy Marshall-King R6
  • For average penalties per game per position Lock is the most penalised position, followed by Hooker and Five Eighth.
  • The record for bomb kicks in a single game this season is ten by Lachlan Ilias in the Round 19 rare win for the Rabbitohs over Melbourne.

EVERYDAY NEWS – Left Hander Annoys All

0

A left hander has used International Left Handers Day to annoy all his mates.

Andrew spent most of Saturday (August 13) flooding his Facebook page with ILHD posts, articles about famous left handers, other articles about how hard it is to be left handed, and various ’funny’ memes and videos about left handers. And his mates are sick of it.

”Seriously, the way old mate carries on, you’d think being left handed was the hardest thing in the world!” said his longtime Belconnen Bulls Fourth XI teammate Peter. “I get they have to make a few adjustments, and the poor bastard hates using can openers or scissors, but it’s not that bad. All the boys know to avoid Andrew today and let him get it out of his system.”

Andrew reportedly capped the day by watching the ‘Leftorium’ episode of The Simpsons, and then a marathon of every MCU movie/Disney+ show featuring Black Widow and Hawkeye, respectively played by famous lefties Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner.

Fantasy Premier League | FPL Captain Preview GW2 + Stats Preview

Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Preview GW2 for the first time this season.

Come for the Fantasy Premier Captain picks, stay for a plethora of FPL stats.

Every gameweek we take a truckload of stats and compile them into our Captain’s table and then have a score out of 100 who we think should be captain.

This week the winner is in the 90’s. Even if his birth date isn’t.

Along with the Captain’s Table is a load of key stats for general FPL knowledge, like who is taking the most shots, chances created, FPL Bonus Points and more.

All of those stats await, but first help yourself to a seat at the Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Preview GW2 Captain’s Table.

FPL Captain Preview GW2 – Captain’s Table

Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW2 results. A full explanation and full list of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.

Stats are based up to the previous GW except for scoring records v opposition. Where there is no opposition history we have all time Premier League season’s stats (in yellow text).

FPL Captain Preview GW2 Thoughts

2022-23 FPL Captain Preview GW2 - Hello Goodbye

HELLOErling Haaland / Mo Salah

Bit of a cop-out but how do you choose, for those lucky enough to have the two players.

Both teams have easy games on paper, but both their opponents Crystal Palace and Bournemouth were quite good last weekend. However, both teams have outstanding records vs this week’s opponent. Man City have never lost to Bournemouth and won 11 in a row. Liverpool have won ten in a row v Crystal Palace by a margin of 30-6.

Both Haaland and Salah got double figure points last weekend. Both were impressive. We guess it comes down to personal choice, but we guess the jury will be out on Haaland for a bit, while Salah is tried and true. Salah has scored seven goals and provided six assists v Crystal Palace in ten meetings.

We advise flipping a coin or picking the player or team you like the most.

CALL ME MAYBEBukaya Sako / Kevin de Bruyne

Sako has a great record of scoring and assisting v Leicester, and Arsenal looked quite good last weekend. Sako getting among the points as well. Arsenal have a great home record v Leicester too, losing just one of their last 29 clashes.

Kevin de Bruyne has the Man City dominance over Bournemouth on his side, but his record v the Cherries himself is surprisingly average as per the Captain’s table above. But

GOODBYE Kane / Son

You’d think after last weekend’s table topping win over Southampton that the Spurs duo would rate highly this week. But they don’t and it’s all about the fixture – Chelsea. Neither player has a great record v Chelsea, and the team’s record v Chelsea is worse. Chelsea have won six and drawn one from their last seven v Spurs in the league and Spurs have failed to score in six of those seven games.

FPL Captain Picks GW22 – Other Stats

2022-23 SEASON STATS SO FAR

Before one ventures into the new gameweek, how about a review of who is doing the best at the moment across a wide range of key stats.

We’ve hand picked the best of them from this season so far and last weekend’s action. Which of course at the moment is the same thing.

But here are a few points of interest first.

  • Darwin Nunez has more Shots from Inside Penalty Area & Six Yard Box combined than any other players despite his late entrance into Liverpool’s game v Fulham. Haaland was second.
  • Newcastle topped GW1 for Key Passes and Shots on Goal. Man Utd had the third highest total of shots.
  • Nottingham Forest were the only team without a shot on target in GW1. For the record, Everton had the highest Shot on Target % at 50%. Spurs and Newcastle were 2nd and 3rd.
  • Erling Haaland is already 0.7 clear in expected goals than the next best.
  • Excitement machine Allan Saint-Maximin is the leading player for touches deep into opposition territory.
  • Leeds’ Jack Harrison created more chances (6) in GW1 than Bournemouth, West Ham and Nottingham Forest. Aston Villa created eight chances yet lost 2-0 to Bournemouth.

2022 NRL Round 22 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Melbourne have scored just six points in their last two games v Penrith.

Penrith have won 12 games in a row at Penrith Stadium against teams from outside NSW, their last loss was in July 2019. In that 12-game run, the Panthers have not conceded more than 14 points including three shutouts.

Penrith have played teams outside NSW 24 times since the start of 2020, they have lost just once – a 37-10 loss to Melbourne last August.

Penrith have also won 10 in a row on a Thursday night – last loss April 2019. Melbourne have lost their last three Thursday games.

Warriors have won three straight v Bulldogs.

Bulldogs have lost their last six away trips on a Friday and ten of their last 11 going back to mid 2017.

Souths have only won two of the 10 matches against Parramatta at Parramatta Stadium (and other names) since 1998. But those two wins did come on a Friday (Friday record 2-1).

Parramatta have won their last four Friday games v Sydney teams. They have also conceded exactly 20 points in three of those games.

Parramatta have conceded the fewest Penalties/Ruck Infringements combined this season. Melbourne are the worst.

Roosters have won all four games v North Queensland since Covid.

Roosters are on an eight game winning streak v Queensland sides.

North Queensland have won five of their six away games v Sydney sides this season.

North Queensland have the second best away record this season behind Penrith.

Brisbane have won all five home clashes against Newcastle on a Saturday night since 1998.

Broncos have won 27 of 32 homes games against NSW sides on a Saturday. They did however, lose their first three at the renovated Lang Park in 2003. Since then it is just two losses in 19 games including their last start loss to the Tigers.

Newcastle have lost their last 15 away games to a Queensland side. Their last win was against Gold Coast Titans in March 2015.

Canberra have lost one game in a row to teams that allegedly contain weak-gutted dogs.

Canberra have won 14/18 home games v St George-Illawarra. They have won all four on a Sunday. They have also scored between 30 and 32 points in those four games.

Gold Coast have won one game since March.

Gold Coast are 3/6 for games v bottom eight sides (based on ladder position going into game). No side has played fewer games against this calculated bottom eight than the Titans. For the record four teams (Souths, Parramatta, North Qld and Melbourne) have played the bottom eight the most (12 times).

Wooden Spooners – NRL Round 21 Results & Headlines

0
2025 NRL Round 1 Results Headlines

It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times, and now the Wooden Spooners have returned to cast their eye over the latest weekend of rugby league that was with the NRL Round 21 Results & Headlines.

Going beyond the scores, the NRL Round 21 Results & Headlines gives the extra insight in the NRL that only the Wooden Spooners can.

All reports are unconfirmed and please contact our Legal team or Buzz Rothfield aka Hans Moleman for complaints.

NRL ROUND 21 RESULTS HEADLINES

RICKY STUART WAS ACTUALLY TRYING TO REPLICATE THE CLASSIC OLD JOHN WEST AD WHERE HE GETS THE DOG SALMON

Many people were looking to the real reason why Ricky Stuart blew up about Jaeman Salmon after the Raiders were beaten by Penrith on Saturday, and the popular consensus is that it was typical Ricky trying to deflect blame after a potentially final series hopes ending loss. But the Wooden Spooners have it on good authority it was something else that Ricky himself would never admit to.

For you see, the Wooden Spooners have it on good inside information that Ricky Stuart wanted to be an actor as much as a rugby league players, and he loves 1980’s commercials.

The problem on Saturday was he was trying the old John West ad, but sadly it was way too obscure and people didn’t get the reference.

Refer above and you’ll see what we mean.

PAUL KENT MYSTERIOUSLY FINDS NOTHING WRONG WITH RICKY STUART SHOOTING HIS MOUTH OFF LIKE A JERK

Rugby League’s biggest mouthpiece – Paul Kent – leaped to Ricky Stuart’s defence after his failed John West commercial on Saturday.

This came as no surprise to the Wooden Spooners team because Paul Kent is a bit of a jerk.

NRL BOSSES ALLEGEDLY OFFERS EACH CLUB $100K MAD MONDAY BONUS FOR ROUND 22 FOR AVOIDING CONTROVERSY FOR AT LEAST A WEEK

It’s been a bad run for the NRL in recent weeks. The Great Wests Tigers Swindle in North Queensland rolling into the Manly rainbow jersey drama then being parlayed into Ricky Stuart’s performance on Saturday night.

Desperate for a week with no bullshit and to get the NRL out of the breakfast news cycle, NRL Godfather Peter V’landys has, according to Wooden Spooners insiders, offered each club a $100K each to add to their Mad Monday plans if the players and clubs agree not to do anything controversial.

It is believed that the clubs have agreed in principle but were quick to point out that the Wests Tigers-North Queensland debacle was actually the NRL’s fault.

CHANNEL NEIN SECRETLY PUTTING THE SHITTIEST GAME POSSIBLE ON A SUNDAY TO DRIVE DOWN NEXT TV RIGHTS DEAL

Sunday afternoon saw yet another dud Sunday afternoon 4pm game, and while the common denominator is usually Newcastle or the Wests Tigers, the ultimate denominator is Channel Nein.

For a long time Sunday afternoon rugby league used to be a premium timeslot. You’d know because Gus Gould would carry on with that for about the first ten minutes of each Sunday broadcast. Well, that’s from our pre Fox League experience.

But these days it seems to be a dumping ground for the worst game of the week, of course due to the unwritten rule, it must feature a minimum of one Sydney team.

When the Wooden Spooners snooped around after finding themselves in the press box with the lights off after clearly sleeping through the second half of the Tigers-Knights game and the next two hours, we spoke to a cleaner who was kicking us out, and he informed via reliable source (his cousin was a produced up to last season) that Channel Nein are purposely putting on shit games to drive down the price of the next TV deal.

ANTHONY GRIFFIN RUNNING OUT OF ASSISTANT COACHES TO FIRE

St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin is under pressure to retain his head coaching gig at the Dragons, especially after Fox League could no longer crowbar their mate Shane Flanagan into the Wests Tigers.

Griffin has gone down the Flotsam route in recent weeks, getting rid of as many coaches as possible that aren’t himself. Sadly another loss on Saturday to local rivals leaves his team with little hope of finals football, and himself with fewer people to fire instead of himself.

No doubt there will be an article or two aimed at the Dragons this week on Fox Sports.

WOODEN SPOONERS UNFAIR QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Q: Was the Tigers-Knights game the worst of the season?

A: No, the Tigers v Titans game earlier in the season was.

THE SHANE FLANAGAN NEW COACHING GIG-O-METER

With Shane Flanagan in the commentary box for Fox League in 2022, we can continue to expect subtle digs at teams who are struggling and that he can see a possible way in for.

So each week as part of the Wooden Spooner’s NRL Headlines, we’ll bring you the New Coaching Gig-O-Meter. This features which teams are hot for a new coach, or a team that was and is going cool.

With the news that the Wests Tigers are going back to the future with Tim Sheens and Benji Marshall, this means the year-long campaign to shove Shane Flanagan in as the Tigers coach is over.

Flanagan is running out of clubs, but that won’t stop the Fox League machine.

Two weeks ago it was a Dragon, last week it is a Knight. This week it could be anything.

So we offer up some artist impressions on both.

  • Alex Johnston has made at least one line break in every game he has played in since Round 10.
  • Corey Oates made five errors in the match against the Roosters, a player making five errors or more has happened just 12 times this season. EVERYDAY – Self-Indulgent Podcast Proves Disappointing

0

A podcast focusing on actors and the Hollywood lifestyle has been engulfed by its own self-indulgence.

The Actor ‘Cast started in early 2022 with a rotating roster of well-known TV and movie actors, with the aim to give listeners a taste of a professional actor’s lifestyle and inside information on upcoming projects.

Unfortunately, that noble goal was quickly forgotten as the featured actors (who have all worked together on various projects) started disappearing up their own arses with in-jokey tales about them and their celebrity mates, as well as praising each other on their best roles.

Sarah Livingstone, who hosts the podcast (and works behind-the-scenes in Hollywood), knew the writing was on the wall early.

”Things started to derail after the fouth episode. I tried to start a topic about the Oscars and that led to 60 minutes of stories of who has the best after parties and who gives the best [REDACTED FOR LEGAL REASONS] and the longest [REDACTED],” said Sarah.

With the first season almost finished, Sarah has given up pretending to care about the podcast’s quality. “All I do now is introduce the guests and sit back and play games on my phone or catch up on emails for 90 minutes. If I let the guests do whatever they want and don’t interrupt, then they invite me to lunch or dinner after the show. They still talk absolute nonsense full of blatant name dropping, but at least I get a nice meal and a few cheeky wines.”

Anasta will star in the new Netflix rom-com The Ex-Player, with shooting to begin in America in December. Anasta plays a former rugby league player who moves to Los Angeles after a messy divorce and falls in love with a quirky indie rock singer/owner of a local karaoke bar (played by Zooey Deschanel).

While Anasta didn’t return the Everyday News Staff Writers’ calls to confirm this, mail is that he “knew the right people” to score the role.

But Anasta’s co-star Deschanel actually had manners and spoke to our Staff Writers.

“I had no idea who he was when we had our initial meeting. I assumed he’d won some Australian reality show and this was his prize? He said he was a ‘Bulldogs, Roosters, and Tigers legend’, whatever that means. At least he likes animals,” said Deschanel. “Then he showed me his highlights packages on YouTube, which comes in handy when I want to get to sleep. I’m out less than two minutes in.”

Deschanel (who made her film debut in 1999) said she wasn’t phased by’s Anasta acting inexperience. “The main reason I took this role is because I get to sing a lot. The soundtrack’s gonna go through the roof on Spotify.”

Though Deschanel said there was an ulterior motive for Braith’s new role.

”He’s been trying to recruit me for some 360 show. He says he can teach me enough about ‘footy’ so I can replace Buzz. If he wants to get rid of a bee so much, I’ll buy him some fly spray.”
