FINAL THOUGHTS
Another successful Las Vegas Round is done and dusted and at least the NRL matches weren’t so one-sided, although that could be debatable after the Channel Nein Cup between Canberra and the Warriors ended 30-8.
Canberra fans will be happy with another opening round win, and Warriors fans shouldn’t be too unhappy just yet.
Panthers fans will be used to the winning, but were pushed all the way by the Sharks, in a game that wouldn’t look out of place in September. You know the Panthers will be there at the sharp end of the season, but Cronulla were a hard one to judge pre-season, but the signs are good from this game.
Of course it’s early days, but some fans will be secretly determining Grand Final plans already.

Canberra have won seven of their last eight Round 1 matches, and it is W7 L1 for home games in Round 1 since 1998.
New Zealand Warriors have now won just one of ten away games in Round 1 in the NRL since 1998.
It was Penrith’s first Round 1 win since 2022.
Cronulla have won just three Round 1 games since 2010. But this was their first Round 1 loss to Penrith after three wins prior to 2010.
Bad news for Warriors and Sharks, as last year’s losers in Las Vegas missed the finals. Good news for Panthers and Raiders as the winners made the finals.
It’s 2/2 for Canberra in opening round clashes v Warriors.
Penrith have won five in a row v Cronulla and nine of the last ten games.
Cronulla have now lost seven away games in a row v Penrith.
Dylan Edwards passed 200 run metres in the Round 1 clash v Cronulla, he did for 16 of the 20 games he played in 2024.
