Two teams down and six teams left in contention for the 2026 NRL Premiership, and NRL Finals Week 2 promises to be at least half of the fun of the week before with two sudden death games this weekend. It’s enough to get one to almost prime Darrel Eastlake. One barely interesting fact about this weekend is that all four teams main jersey is some shade or tint of blue. Talking about blue, our NRL Finals Week 2 Tips, Predictions & Stats is an Adult’s Only NRL tipping experience.

Each week this season we will offer up a quick preview glance for each match, throw in a bunch of barely interesting stats, and mix in a pinch of opinion, plus throw in our weekly predictions like chicken salt on hot chips and you have something that seagulls and humans will fight over.

2026 NRL Finals Week 2 Tips - Roosters v

2026 NRL Finals Week 2 Tips - Roosters v Cronulla Finals

STATS:

ROO+ > Roosters lead 3-1 in Finals H2H v Cronulla and 2-1 on a Saturday.

ROO+ > Roosters did lose their last Saturday Finals game, which was coincidentally v Cronulla, but have won 13 of the previous 15 before that.

ROO+ > Roosters are W8 L2 from their last ten games at Allianz Stadium v Sydney teams.

ROO+ > Roosters are W7 L1 from their last eight games at Allianz Stadium v Sydney teams on a Saturday.

ROO+ > Roosters lead the H2H v Cronulla 7-3 for games on a Saturday at Allianz Stadium.

ROO- > Roosters have lost their last three games v Sydney teams.

CRO+ > Cronulla have won their last three Finals games on a Saturday.

CRO+ > Cronulla have won their last two finals games at Allianz Stadium, scoring 26 points in both games and beating the Cowboys in both.

CRO- > Cronulla have lost their last two games at Allianz Stadium v Sydney teams, scoring 12 points in both games.

CRO- > Cronulla did beat the Roosters in last season’s final series, but it was five straight losses to Sydney teams in finals before that.

CRO? > Cronulla are W4 L4 for Finals games at Allianz Stadium v Sydney teams.

FINAL WORD: The two teams whose form abandoned them late in the season meet on Saturday where one team’s season will be determined as underwhelming as they exit. The Sharks Finals win over the Roosters last year helps boost their ratings, but the Roosters record at Allianz Stadium and Saturday finals record leads us to give them the nod.

2026 NRL Finals Week 2 Tips - Warriors v Newcastle

STATS:

WAHS+ > Warriors have won the only H2H Finals match – 40-10 in 2023 at Mt Smart Stadium.

WAHS+ > Warriors have won their last five home games v Newcastle, four at Mt Smart, one at Christchurch.

WAHS+ > Warriors have won nine of their last ten home games on a Sunday v Newcastle, all at Mt Smart.

WAHS+ > Since returning to New Zealand post-Covid, the Warriors are W8 L2 at home (in NZ) on a Sunday.

WAHS- > Warriors have lost their last two Finals games at Mt Smart Stadium. Prior to that they had won the previous three games there in Finals.

WAHS+ > Warriors have won their last five games in NZ not at Mt Smart Stadium.

WAHS- > Warriors won their most recent game at Eden Park (in 2014) but lost the other five games there.

WAHS- > Warriors are W13 L23 for games in NZ not at Mt Smart Stadium.

??? > Newcastle are W3 L4 for Sunday Finals matches, Warriors are W3 L5.

NEW+ > Newcastle have won three of their last four away games, the only loss v Warriors with 12 men in Round 26 was a decent performance.

NEW- > Newcastle’s win against Souths was just their third away Finals win from 16 matches.

NEW- > Newcastle are W1 L4 away in Finals outside of NSW.

NEW- > Newcastle are W3 L4 away on a Sunday this season, they lost all their Sunday away games in 2025 and most of them in 2024.

FINAL WORD: Stats say Warriors with a good recent H2H record, and home record. But the fact that the home ground is Eden Park and not Mt Smart concerns. As does the last match between these sides this season where a 12 man Newcastle side pushed the Warriors all the way. Plus, the manner of Newcastle’s win over Souths last weekend as well as the Warriors capitulation v Dolphins leads us to tip an upset.
