WINNERS

NEUTRALS

Looks like we now have a myriad of stories for the neutral. A potential title race, a midfield covered by a couple of points where table positions can change by 4 or 5 with a goal conceded, the promoted sides being decent means relegation is no foregone conclusion, and Man Utd being 17th is a point of interest for all.

BRIGHTON

Can beat Arsenal, 3-0 no less. Can beat Man City, pre-points deduction. Can play. Can win the Premier League.

SPURS

Haven’t won three games in a row in the Premier League since Round 26 in the 2024-2025 Premier League season. Up to 8th.

PROMOTED SIDES

A 2-2 draw between Hull and Ipswich was entertaining enough, and frustrating if you were an Ipswich fan, but Coventry’s big win over Sunderland sees all three out of the bottom three. It’s not a season to underperform as the safety net of hopeless promoted clubs is gone.

LOSERS

MAN UTD

Who could ever have imagined that Man Utd would be hanging on to 17th place and out of relegation on goal difference.

SUNDERLAND

Now dead last and have lost to Coventry and Ipswich, 2/3 promoted sides. Next four features Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Aston Villa.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Bottom three, lost three in a row by a combined 0-9.

  • Man Utd are one of only two teams left who have yet to keep a clean sheet (Ipswich is the other – the only team Man Utd have beaten this season).
  • There has not been a consecutive result between Coventry and Sunderland in 18 games going back to 2003.
  • Crystal Palace’s 0.14 expected goals is the third lowest team/GW effort this season.
  • Between Europa League and the Premier League Bournemouth have won five in a row and by a combined 13-0.
  • Midfield teams Leeds (5) and Hull (7) have increasingly worrying winless runs.
