2025-26 Premier League Predictions Feature Image

Worth slightly less than a transfer window, with longer hair than some Man Utd supporters, playing in a formation that was unfashionable and illegal 60 years ago, and somehow getting the full support of the Chairman, it’s our 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 11.

Each gameweek in this 2025-26 Premier League season we offer up a stat filled prediction preview, with some barely interesting stats and visuals, just enough to bluff your way through various tipping competitions or betting shops.

We also attempted to guess the final Premier League ladder in advance. Follow the link to that here.

Barely Interesting Stats – 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 11 – Stats and Thoughts

Help yourself to a buffet of barely interesting stats, quick one liners and more to help pick a winner.

BEST OF WEEK 11 STATS

Spurs’ Expected Goals of 0.15 last weekend v Chelsea was the equal lowest single game return this season along with Newcastle (v Bournemouth)

Liverpool are unbeaten in all Sunday games v Man City at Man City (W4 D7).

Sunderland (W3 D2) are unbeaten at home this season, and are one of only five teams this season not to lose at home.

SAT 12:30PM – TOTTENHAM v MAN UTD

STATS: Spurs’ Expected Goals of 0.15 last weekend v Chelsea was the equal lowest single game return this season along with Newcastle (v Bournemouth), and only just ahead of their next worst 0.17 v Bournemouth. Spurs are unbeaten in their last five league games v Man Utd (W3 D2) and did the double last season. Spurs have the third lowest average Expected Goals v big six clubs this season, while Man Utd has the fourth best. Spurs also have the third worst Expected Goals at home this season.

Verdict: One does wonder if Spurs fans would be happier having Ange. Old mate Man Utd fan needing a haircut waiting for five straight wins has to reset after last weekend.

Tottenham 0 Man Utd 1

SAT 3PM – WEST HAM v BURNLEY

STATS: Three of the last four games between West Ham and Burnley have been draws including the last two games at West Ham. Only Wolves have a worst Points per Game at home this season. Sunderland last beat Arsenal in February 2012 in a Cup fixture. It’s 2009 and L10 D5 in the League since their last win over Arsenal. Sunderland last beat Arsenal in the League at Arsenal in 1983.

Verdict: A big potential banana skin for Arsenal. Sunderland continue to impress, as an Ipswich fan, quite jealous.

Sunderland 1 Arsenal 1

SAT 8PM – CHELSEA v WOLVES

STATS: The record for teams who sacked their manager in the first game of the new hire this season is D1 L2. Aston Villa have played the equal most amount of Sunday games this season with a decent W4 D1 L1 record, even better that they are on a four game winning run on a Sunday. Bournemouth are W1 D1 L1.

Aston Villa 2 Bournemouth 1

SUN 2PM – BRENTFORD v NEWCASTLE

STATS: Newcastle have won the only game between these sides on a Sunday. Newcastle have won five of the last six games v Brentford. This season on a Sunday Man City are W3 D1 L2, while Liverpool are W2 L1. Man City are W1 D1 L1 v Big Six clubs this season and Liverpool are W1 L2. Liverpool are top for shots per game (16), Man City aren’t far behind with 14 per game but their Shots on Target is better (37% v 31%).

Verdict: Premium game to end the Gameweek before another meddling International break.

Liverpool 2 Man City 0

Verdict: One sided on historic form.

Brighton 2 Leeds 0

SAT 3PM – BURNLEY v ARSENAL

STATS: Recent H@H since 2020 is less one-sided than you’d think – Arsenal’s record is W3 D3 L1. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 11 games at Burnley (W6 D5) and four of those six wins were 1-0. Verdict: Old mate with the long hair can almost taste the haircut. What luck Man Utd come across the Premier League most out of form team. Man Utd’s away record ins only W1 D1 L2 this season so far, but it’s better than Forest’s home record of W1 L3.

Nott’m Forest 0 Man Utd 3

SAT 5:30PM – TOTTENHAM v CHELSEA

STATS: Chelsea have already played four London clubs and are an unbeaten W2 D2, while Spurs have one win from one game v London teams. Chelsea have won four in a row v Spurs. Chelsea have won and scored four goals in their last two visits to Tottenham. Of the 31 games at Spurs on a Saturday in the league since 1992, Chelsea have lost just three games – W21 D7 L3. Spurs are 1/1 v big six sides this season, Chelsea are W1 L1.

Verdict: Spurs have dodgy home form this season, and after losing at home to Sunderland Chelsea are a bit poor in general. This should be fun or cagey, but not both.

Tottenham 0 Chelsea 1

SAT 8PM – LIVERPOOL v ASTON VILLA

STATS: Liverpool (W6 D2) are unbeaten in their last eight games v Aston Villa. It’s seven in a row at home (W6 D1). Despite losing their last four Premier League games, Liverpool are second for expected goals over that time. Despite winning their last four games, and recovering their season, Aston Villa had the fifth worst expected goals over that run but actual goals scored is almost double the expected goals. Aston Villa are 2/2 v big six sides this season.

Verdict: Aston Villa have won as many in a row as Liverpool have lost in a row and they are together in the table.

Liverpool 1 Aston Villa 2

SUN 2PM – WEST HAM v NEWCASTLE

STATS: Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six trips to West Ham (W4 D2). West Ham have won their only Sunday game this season while Newcastle are W1 D1 L1 on a Sunday. Newcastle (W3 D1) are unbeaten in their four games so far against the current bottom six sides. Newcastle are one of four teams not to win away from home this season, and the only team of that group not in the bottom four.

Verdict: On their way to matching Forest for number of managers in a season.

West Ham 1 Newcastle 1

SUN 4:30PM – MAN CITY v BOURNEMOUTH

STATS: Last season’s win by Bournemouth at Bournemouth v Man City is the only win from their 23 games together. Man City’s home record v Bournemouth is W11 D1 and ten wins in a row and they have scored 35 goals in that ten game run. Bournemouth are W1 L1 v big six sides this season. Bournemouth are 1/1 v current top six sides while Man City are W1 D1 L1.

Verdict: Who’d think this would be a Sunday 4:30pm kick off featuring both sides in the top six and Bournemouth the highest of the two. Crazy season.

Man City 2 Bournemouth 1

MON 8PM – SUNDERLAND v EVERTON

STATS: Everton have lost their only game v promoted sides this season. Sunderland (W3 D1) are one of four teams unbeaten this season at home. Sunderland are already five points clear of Southampton’s season tally from last season. Everton have won the last three games v Sunderland by a combined 8-0.

Verdict: As an Ipswich Town fan I have happy for Sunderland as well as being even more bitter about how awful Ipswich were last season. But like Sunderland, we didn’t lose to Chelsea in our promotion season.

Sunderland 1 Everton 1

Normally we have a season long bunch of stats, but we’re saving that for the end of season review that will be way too long for anyone to want to read. Regardless, here is our shortened version for contractual obligations.

2025 Mexican F1 Grand Prix Result Race Summary

Didn’t see the race live? Don’t have time to watch the whole race? Here’s where we capture the laps where stuff happened. We write these live as we go, sort of like a minute by minute for the football, but marginally more interesting.

Setting the sceneQualifying was a huge session in terms of potential Championship defining. Lando Norris blew everyone away with a sensational pole position lap, and meanwhile Oscar Piastri looked off the pace and out of sorts all weekend and he ended up qualifying 8th. Thankfully Carlos Sainz’s overtaking mishap from Austin moved him up a place. Max Verstappen’s recent comeback slowed a little as he only ended up 5th on the grid. With Ferraris and Mercedes in between Norris and Piastri, and Piastri was unable to explain his lack of pace which is a worry and gives no confidence of having a stormer of a race, Norris could take the Championship lead this weekend, and having the Championship lead was Piastri’s main weapon in the perceived favouritism from McLaren.

GRID (Starting Order) – NOR LEC HAM RUS VER ANT PIA HAD BEA TSU

Lap 1 – Lando Norris gets away ok but better than the Ferraris and they all thunder down into the first corner down the long run to turn one with Max Verstappen joining in making it almost four cars wide. As they approach the apex cars have to run wide and take to the run off area like scattered marbles and so it hard to know who’s in the lead. A Ferrari ends up in front of Norris but has to give back the place, so eventually by turn four it is Norris in the lead. Oscar Piastri made an ok getaway but had to drive carefully and was squeezed in the first corners, he ended the first lap in 9th place, a loss of two places and a Championship losing deficit. Oh, and Lance Stroll spun off but recovered with Colapinto possibly involved. At least two of those drivers shouldn’t be on the grid next season. George Russell is on  the radio complaining about Verstappen and wanting a position swap, so this first lap may not be over yet. Well it is physically over, but you know what we mean.

ORDER – NOR LEC HAM VER RUS BEA ANT TSU PIA OCO

Lap 3 – Lando Norris is 1.4 seconds in front of Leclerc who sets a fastest lap for fun. The cars behind are all pretty close with Piastri is over six seconds behind in 9th. Liam Lawson pits for a new front wing, which looks to be from contact with a Williams. And George Russell is still unhappy with Max Verstappen.

Lap 4 – Oscar Piastri tries and fails to get past Yuki Tsunoda into turn one. Piastri needs to hurry up, he is on soft tyres while the Red Bull is on mediums, so staying behind is not great. He dropped 1.5 second to Norris on the last lap alone.

Lap 6 – Chaos in the places behind Norris. TV comes back from start replays to show Verstappen cutting the grass and Hamilton running wide, the Mercedes bunched up and Oliver Bearman in the mix too. In the fall-out Bearman gets ahead of Verstappen and the two Mercedes and grabs fourth place into the esses.

Replays show this all started from a very late and deep lunge by Max Verstappen on Lewis Hamilton into turn one, Lewis Hamilton turned in a little on Verstappen, possibly didn’t think it would happen, and then ran Verstappen off the track as well, hence the cars going everywhere.

Combined with first lap shenanigans, it could be a bunch of penalties on the way later.

ORDER – NOR LEC HAM BE VER ANT RUS TSU PIA OCO

Lap 8 – Piastri tries and fails again to get past Yuki Tsunoda, making his best effort so far, but not good enough. Which is a fair description of his entire weekend so far. He has to do something, it’s currently a Championship losing situation. Meanwhile Lando Norris is 2.6 seconds in front of Leclerc in second and is over 15 seconds in front of Piastri.

Lap 11 – Finally Piastri gets past Tsunoda into turn one for 8th, but George Russell ahead won’t be easier, in fact he will be much harder. Meanwhile Norris is on the radio and his race is going to plan and is told to open up a gap to Leclerc.

Lap 14 – Lando Norris sets fastest lap just to show his current dominance, and he has the entire pit straight between him and fourth placed Oliver Bearman, who is hanging on heroically. And hanging on is a little unfair, he has cleared Verstappen behind by 1.5 seconds, although the Red Bull is on the medium tyres which don’t seem to be the ones to have right now. Which means the soft tyre runners (front runners except Red Bull) may stay on the softs for a while yet.

Lap 15 – Lewis Hamilton is given a 10 second penalty for his lap six incident with Max Verstappen. Seems harsh considering no one got a penalty for the first lap where it looked like everyone except Lando Norris left the track and gained an advantage. Good news for Piastri as it’s one less car to pass. Also bad news as Norris is now 6.7 seconds ahead of Leclerc and flying. Good news for Oliver Bearman as it means he’s currently in the final podium position.

ORDER – NOR LEC HAM* BEA VER ANT RUS PIA TSU OCO
* 10 Second Penalty

Lap 18 – Oscar Piastri is right on George Russell’s tail, enough to get DRS, no dice on this lap but looking quite fast and capable. He can’t quite stay with the Mercedes through the esses, where he has looked slowish all weekend. Carlos Sainz pits for new tyres from the midfield and celebrates by locking up and running off the track onto the grass at turn one.

Lap 20 – Now Max Verstappen is under investigation for his incident with Lewis Hamilton. So the two drivers could end up with a penalty each from the one racing incident. Both would help Piastri, and could even sneak a podium if he can clear the Mercedes on track or through the pitlane. It would be damage limitation he’d barely deserve but would take.

Lap 23 – Kimi Antonelli pits for new tyres, something McLaren could have considered for Piastri, and who knows, they may have asked Lando Norris and his dad and were told no. Antonelli rejoins in 13th and behind Lance Stroll, so might be better staying out.

Lap 24 – Lewis Hamilton stops for tyres and takes his ten second penalty while he’s there. That extra time rejoins him in 14th and behind Antonelli on track. The stewards conveniently advise at the same time that there’s no further action between him and Verstappen.

ORDER – NOR LEC BEA VER RUS PIA TSU OCO HAD BOR

Lap 25 – Oscar Piastri pits for new tyres which will hopefully jump him ahead of George Russell eventually. He rejoins in 13th behind Kimi Antonelli (10th) and sadly Stroll, ouch for him. But at least ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Oliver Bearman also pit from a magnificent third, and rejoins in 9th ahead of Antonelli. George Russell pits the next lap and rejoins just ahead of Oscar Piastri as the McLaren overtakes Alex Albon.

ORDER – NOR LEC VER TSU OCO HAD (No pit) BEA ANT (Pit) BOR STR (No Pit)

Lap 27 – Bad lap for Williams. Lewis Hamilton demotes Alex Albon another place, and the Williams is struggling on hard tyres. Carlos Sainz gets five second penalty for pitlane speeding too. Replays show Sainz had an issue with his pit lane speed limiter. Could be worse, Nico Hulkenberg retires with car failure, power unit apparently.

Lap 28 – Oliver Bearman takes Isack Hadjar for on track 5th, and on track for a podium. Another rookie Kimi Antonelli passes Hadjar a few corners later. George Russell overtakes a Sauber and sets fastest lap. Lots happening in the midfield. Unlike up front where Lando Norris is dominating this race with a 15 seconds gap to Leclerc, who has 13 seconds to Verstappen, who has 13 tseconds to Tsunoda.

Lap 30 – Oscar Piastri overtakes Hadjar too. So realistically at this stage, if he gets a move-on, the best Piastri can do is fourth or fifth. That will still mean losing the Championship lead, and that’s if he’s quick enough to catch those cars in front and pass, which has looked rather unlikely based on the weekend so far. Playing with a DNF voodoo doll for Lando Norris is his most likely way of now losing the Championship lead. But at least he’s under six seconds to fourth.

Lap 32 – Charles Leclerc pits from second and rejoins third losing a place to Max Verstappen. A place further back and a Red Bull loses a place – Tsunoda by Bearman who is highly impressive. If he’s not careful he’ll talk his way into a Ferrari drive.

Lap 33 – Both Mercedes gets past Tsunoda who is going tslower on his old tyres. For the second time this race Piastri is taking his sweet time getting past the Red Bull. But does so into turn one on lap 34.

Lap 34 – Race leader Lando Norris pits. An error free stop this time, so no need for adjustments, and he keeps the lead. It’s an easy day for the Briton who has been nothing less than majestic since Saturday. He may well get a crown on current form. Meanwhile George Russell is on the radio to say he has more speed, which translates to “Get Antonelli out of the way please”.

Lap 36 – Another DNF and they seem to be coming in age order now as Fernando Alonso retires with mechanical problems. Could be a DNF on track as the Mercedes start to get close and discuss strategy on radio. Russell thinks he can get a podium, that’s good news for Piastri who is less than a second behind Russell.

ORDER – NOR VER LEC BEA ANT RUS PIA HAM SAI BOR

Lap 39 – George Russell is getting quite grumpy now on the radio, and that’s because he has an Oscar Piastri right up his arse. Piastri looks quick for the first time this weekend, as Russell claims to be quicker than Antonelli. If either Russell or Piastri can get ahead of the car in front a podium could still be on. Meanwhile we missed Max Verstappen’s pitstop, he dropped to behind Lewis Hamilton but is on the better soft tyres.

Lap 41 – The Mercedes team advise Kimi Antonelli to swap positions after a relentless campaign from George Russell. Oscar Piastri could have taken advantage of the swap but didn’t, which sums up his weekend. Back to Mercedes, if they ended up swapping, why did they wait so long? In saying that, George Russell hasn’t exactly disappeared from Antonelli.

ORDER – NOR LEC BEA RUS ANT PIA HAM VER SAI OCO

Lap 44 – Oscar Piastri is making no ground on the Mercedes in front, and radio from McLaren to Norris suggests they could be thinking about a soft tyre change for Piastri. They might need to if he can’t get past the Mercedes. Behind him, on soft tyres, Max Verstappen is significantly quicker. Piastri might need to do something, as his current mediocrity won’t save him.

Lap 47 – Piastri looks like he’s going to pit but tries for one more lap to pass Antonelli. He gets close, but not in front. Behind them, Max Verstappen is flying and passes Lewis Hamilton. A bit cleaner this time around.

Lap 49 – Antonelli and Piastri pit together as well Lewis Hamilton, and in his first bit of good juju for the weekend gets ahead of the Mercedes. They’re all on soft tyres and could have a bit of fun in this last section of the race. They rejoin 7th, 8th and 9th.

Lap 50 – George Russell joins the tyre changing fun as well as Oliver Bearman. Bearman stays out in front in 4th place but Russell comes out just in front of Ocon and just holds onto 5th place. Oscar Piastri nips past Ocon as well in a brave, cheeky move into a corner where overtaking isn’t expected. Great move, and needed. He’s sixth but within reach of Bearman in 4th.

ORDER – NOR LEC VER BEA RUS PIA ANT HAM OCO HAD

Lap 51 – Taking a breath from all the tyre changing, order swapping action, Lando Norris is 23 seconds in front of Leclerc, who is a reducing 12 seconds in front of Max Verstappen. Verstappen is on soft tyres and going fast, while the cars in front are cruising on mediums. One wonders if the top two will take or need to take another tyre stop if Verstappen keeps going.

Lap 56 – A train is developing between Oliver Bearman, George Russell and Oscar Piastri for fourth. Further ahead Max Verstappen is closing on Charles Leclerc.

Lap 60 – Oscar Piastri dives down the inside of George Russell into turn one and just keeps the position as they go through the subsequent left and right. Oliver Bearman and fourth place is in his sights, and if he steals that, he will keep the Championship lead. Bearman is three seconds up the road. But surely, based on the 2025 season, a McLaren should pass a Haas with ten laps to go…….

ORDER – NOR LEC VER BEA PIA RUS ANT HAM OCO HAD

Lap 62 – Showing either a sense of humour or ambition or both, Antonelli is on the team radio asking for his position back. Fantastic. They do swap positions on lap 63.

Lap 63 – Gabriel Bortoleto wins the battle of rookies as he takes the final point off Isack Hadjar.

Lap 64 – Oscar Piastri closes within two seconds of Bearman and Verstappen within three of Leclerc. Six laps to go to change the order, and in some cases, the Championship order.

Lap 66 – Max Verstappen is now within 2.5 second of Leclerc and Piastri within 1.3 seconds. Lining up for a double last lap special here.

Lap 68 – Piastri has closed to within a second so DRS will be available on the next time they go down the pit straight. Max Verstappen is almost within DRS to Leclerc. But not quite.

Lap 69 – Piastri within 0.6 seconds with DRS, but still behind, and two laps to go. Verstappen still not within a second.

Lap 70 – Max Verstappen jinks and looks to get past Leclerc into the first corner but doesn’t quite manage. Ditto for Piastri on Bearman but not quite as close.

VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR DEPLOYED

What a party pooper.

It was caused by a broken down Carlos Sainz, although the car looked to be out of danger on a slow corner. The stewards have robbed us of a great finish. Clowns.

FINAL LAP – VSC Ends halfway around the last lap just for fun and no good reason. It doesn’t stop Lando Norris cruising to win. Further back how does second end up? Leclerc hangs on. Further further back Piastri can’t get past Oliver Bearman who takes magnificent fourth place for Haas.

FINAL ORDER (Across the line) – NOR LEC VER BEA PIA ANT RUS HAM OCO BOR

Here we go through the field and highlight the very best (Great) of the race, and the plodders, the over-ambitious, the out of luck, and simply hopeless (Grape).

These points get added to our Driver of the Season scores. 5 points for a great nomination, and -5 for the worst or grapest driver in the pack. Then it is +2 /-2 for honourable or dishonourable mentions.

THE GREAT-EST – LANDO NORRIS

A simply magnificent weekend. Not only did he demonstrate his speed and racecraft, he did so while his team mate had a shocker. Smashes the Championship deficit and takes the lead by one point and grabs momentum as Max Verstappen struggles a little as well. It’s his title to lose now.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

OLIVER BEARMAN – What a drive from the rookie, who has occasionally shone on various weekends this season but was top shelf in Mexico. Qualified well, made a decent start, then ran fourth early as he took advantage of the Verstappen-Hamilton shenanigans. Then after the pitstops the rookie Brit ran a confident third at times, and was top five for most of the race.

CHARLES LECLERC – A solid second in qualifying and the race is best of the best, no more, no less.

MAX VERSTAPPEN – Good damage limitation, kept us entertained.

THE GRAPE-EST – OSCAR PIASTRI

A complete mystery how he can be so slow in comparison to his team mate, and sadly with vibes of Daniel Ricciardo’s time at McLaren, he can’t work out why. And we know how that ended up. Started too far back to salvage too much for the weekend as he wasn’t fast enough to carve through cars that his team mate probably would have. A very bad downward trend that sees him lose the Championship lead, momentum, and form. One has to cynically wonder about the influence of Webber.

DISHONOURABLE MENTIONS

NICO HULKENBERG  – A DNF ended a reasonably obscure and forgettable race.

FERNANDO ALONSO – Ditto

ALPINE – So slow

WILLIAMS  – So disappointing.

LANCE STROLL  – So Stroll.

Was it a good race, loads of action, a tense ending, a surprise result or DNF, or just a big, fat, snooze-fest?

We rate the big race itself, so we know which races to go back and watch in the off season or one to simply remember the winner for the post season quiz nights.

PRE RACE ACTION (FP, QUAL, SPRINT, OFF TRACK etc) –  4 / 5

Qualifying was an incredible session which (before knowing the race result) could have huge Championship implications.

ON TRACK ACTION (RACE) –  7 / 10

Aside from the first two running and hiding, the race saw lots of on track action, even if there was a lack of amateur hour that we love so much. A mix of different cars in potential podium positions, plus the wondering of how much damage limitation Oscar Piastri could do made for a good contest.

ANY SURPRISES? – 4 / 5

Oscar Piastri’s lack of pace. Oliver Bearman’s strong showing. The Red Bull being a little off the pace from recent races.

SEASON IMPORTANCE – 5 / 5

The lead in the Drivers Championship changed hands, so yeah, pretty big deal. Max Verstappen with 36 points now as well.

ENDING –  3 / 5

Oscar Piastri’s move and chase of Bearman for fourth was exciting enough, and some late moves within the midfield makes up for the lack of action right up the front.

OVERALL RATING – 23 / 30

A good fun race, with huge Championship implications, and a decent timeslot of those on another side of the world.

F1 Donkey Bold Predictions

Faster than an Alpine, with more team rules than any type of fruit, a tenth as excited about Lando Norris than Sky F1, and with more hope of getting out of Q1 than certain drivers, it’s the F1 Donkey with his unique view on F1 and more. Before each race The F1 Donkey puts the ass in sass and unloads his alternative, slightly unhinged thoughts on F1 including this week’s Bold 2025 Mexican Grand Prix Predictions and opinion.

The F1 Donkey’s Pre Mexican Grand Prix Thoughts

As Max Verstappen closes in on his fifth and least likeliest Championship you do have to marvel at how he is even close enough. Then you realise that the uptick in form at Red Bull coincides with the removal of Christian Horner, therefore a focus on the car instead of himself. Which really is a refreshingly novel way to run a team.

Maybe Christian Horner will end up at Alpine. They need something. When your only interest point is drivers defying team orders over 17th place then you’ll take any help you can get.

Maybe Christian Horner will end up at Ferrari too, as is rumoured. They could also do with a push upwards, or outwards in the case of Lewis Hamilton. Maybe a driver swap with Oscar Piastri would work. Piastri would get to a team that may like him, and Sky F1 could have a UK Super team where they’ll simply need to set up a tent outside their motorhome and never leave.

Christian Horner will of course never go to McLaren, as they have enough bosses already, and seem to be quite capable of ruining this championship enough. Between Zak Brown, Andrea Stella, Lando Norris’ dad, Sky F1 producers, and Lando Norris they have enough people running the team.

Maybe Sky F1 could pick up Christian Horner as a pundit. Despite his unlikeable arrogance, he could certainly give insight that few others could. And an interview with Toto Wolff would be Box Office.

And if it meant that Danica Patrick was bumped from all punditry and commentary going forward even better. Some may call this old school Female in Sport bashing, which is not true. We enjoy the contributions of the other female commentators and pundits on the Sky F1 coverage, when they’re not fawning over Lando Norris but that is not a problem just along gender lines, but Danica Patrick’s punditry is awful. Bernie Collins is excellent, Jamie Chadwick is excellent, Natalie Pinkham has been great forever, Naomi Schiff tends to answer a slightly different version of the question she’s just been asked a lot but is ok, and Rachel Brookes does the steady Jonathan Palmer type job that is needed. Danica Patrick is not excellent, nor even average.

There were stages on the weekend when even she realised what she was saying was terrible (look for her explanation on Carlos Sainz’s failed overtaking). Or at least on the nose, if Jenson Button’s glances away to camera are to be believed. So male or female, are we not allowed to say someone isn’t very good at their job and offer zero (if not negative) value to the F1 experience. We do it week in and week for Lance Stroll.

The NRL Donkey’s Bold 2025 Mexican Grand Prix Predictions

And here they are, in a convenient team by team format, so you can ignore them all at your convenience or peril. Depending on the outcome of our prediction.

McLAREN

Oscar Piastri to continue his Webber-like slide away from the Championship lead. Will get stuck behind a Mercedes and maybe even a plucky Ferrari and/or Fernando Alonso early in the race. Norris to qualify third at best but finish ahead of Piastri.

RED BULL

Pole, win, panic stations elsewhere. That’s Max of course. Yuki will crash into someone within the first five laps.

MERCEDES

Front row start, podium nuisance for the title challengers.

FERRARI

Probably fourth fastest and hope that Williams don’t have a good race.

WILLIAMS

Solid Q3 and points for Carlos Sainz, last year’s winner.

ALPINE

Last, and hopefully a last lap, stadium section collision with each other as more team orders are ignored.

RACING BULLS

Liam Lawson to look like sad puppy. Isack Hadjar to bin it in Practice, frustrated by being announced as Red Bull driver for 2026.

ASTON MARTIN

It’s just a matter of when and where Lance Stroll bins it.

HAAS

I’ve tried three times to think of something bold to say about Haas for this weekend and it just isn’t happening.

SAUBER

Q3 for Hulk, points for Hulk, plaudits for Hulk.

F1 2023 - Fabi Preview Index Feature Image

The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.

So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.

FAST? 6 / 10 – Nice long pit straight and a back straight adds speed, and although the esses aren’t quite what they used to be, they look make the cars look fast. The lap is spoiled by the Stadium section, not only for that, but killing the old fast last corner.

ACTION? 5 / 10 – The long pit straight into the first corner complex makes overtaking easier than elsewhere, and the back straight thereafter is best for settling beefs that may have happened just before. The Grandstand section serves to catch out the underwhelming, and sometimes does. We can expect one over-ambitious overtaking move to go wrong there at some stage.

BIG HISTORY? – 4 / 10 – It’s a stop-start history, with this being the third chapter of the Mexican Grand Prix. The 1990 race is a good one to have a re-watch.

INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 1 /10The Weather Channel says no chance of rain, and temperatures look very pleasant. So just the altitude of Mexico City then.

RACE POTENTIAL RATING 40% – Esses are fun, and long straight should provide some overtaking.

FOOTBALL | 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9

2025-26 Premier League Predictions Feature Image

Worth slightly less than a transfer window, on a run better than Liverpool, playing in a formation that was unfashionable and illegal 60 years ago, and safer in our job than any other Australian, it’s our 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9.

Barely Interesting Stats – 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9 – Stats and Thoughts

Help yourself to a buffet of barely interesting stats, quick one liners and more to help pick a winner.

BEST OF WEEK 9 STATS

Aston Villa have won their last two home games v Man City.
Everton are unbeaten in their last six home game v Spurs, although the last start win was the only non-draw.
Bournemouth’s 42% of Shots on Target v Shots taken is the Premier League best so far.
Brighton have won six of the last seven games v Man Utd

FRI 8PM – LEEDS v WEST HAM

STATS: West Ham (W2 D2) are unbeaten in their last four trips to Leeds. West Ham (W1 D2) are also unbeaten v Leeds on a Friday. Both of these teams scored zero goals last weekend, but the expected goals was quite different – Leeds’ effort was rated 2.33 while West Ham’s was a weekend low point of 0.26. West Ham have lost their only game this season v promoted clubs. West Ham are 1/1 v bottom six clubs while Leeds are W1 L2.

Verdict: Could be a great way to start the weekend of football. Unless you are Nuno, and West Ham lose.

Leeds 1 West Ham 2

SAT 3PM – NEWCASTLE v FULHAM

STATS: Fulham did the double over Newcastle last season.

Verdict: It’s just not that interesting.

Newcastle 2 Fulham 0

SAT 3PM – CHELSEA v SUNDERLAND

STATS: Chelsea have won their past three home games v Sunderland by 3-1, 5-1, 5-1. Sunderland have lost their only game v big six club and Chelsea are yet to play a promoted side.

Verdict: Chelsea couldn’t beat Ipswich last season, the only positive from a season of pain.

Chelsea 3 Sunderland 0

SAT 5:30PM – MAN UTD v BRIGHTON

STATS: Brighton have won six of the last seven games v Man Utd, losing just once in that run. Brighton have won the last three games at Man Utd – 3-1, 2-1, 2-1. Man Utd have lost only one Saturday game v Brighton at home (W8 D3 L1).

Verdict: Local barbers in Manchester are getting ready for old mate with the no-haircut pledge until Man Utd win five in a row. If that guy is from Manchester. Which he probably isn’t. Brighton do like to spoil parties though.

Man Utd 2 Brighton 1

SAT 8PM – BRENTFORD v LIVERPOOL

STATS: Liverpool have won five in a row v Brentford, and Brentford have scored just once in that five-game run. Liverpool (W6 D2) are unbeaten in the last eight Saturday games v Brentford. Liverpool have lost both of their games away to London clubs.

Verdict: Crisis club Liverpool visit a team who lose every odd numbered game week.

Brentford 1 Liverpool 2

SUN 2PM – WOLVES v BURNLEY

STATS: You have to go down to the Regional League Southern Premier Division Central and Stamford AFC to find the next lowest football club in the UK system who haven’t won a game after Wolves. Every second game between these sides at Wolves has ended in a draw for the last six, and another draw is due. Half of the last 12 games between these sides anywhere have ended in a draw. Wolves record at home on a Sunday to Burnley is W3 D1 L1. Wolves have drawn their only Sunday game this season while Burnley have lost both of theirs.

Verdict: Why this game isn’t Saturday 3pm is beyond me. And beyond scoring.

Wolves 0 Burnley 0

SUN 2PM – BOURNEMOUTH v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

STATS: Bournemouth’s 42% of Shots on Target v Shots taken is the Premier League best so far. Bournemouth (W6 D4) are unbeaten v Nottingham Forest over the past ten games. Bournemouth (W7 D3 L1) have lost only once at home in their last 11 matches v Nottingham Forest. The only game between these sides on a Sunday ended as a draw. New manager Sean Dyche’s record v Bournemouth is W8 D2 L6. Bournemouth are W2 D1 v bottom six clubs this season. Forest are L2 v top six clubs.

Verdict: Who’d thought that when Forest were knocking on the door of Champions League last season the answer would end up being Sean Dyche. Or that Bournemouth would replace them as the plucky small club outsider for UCL.

Bournemouth 3 Nott’m Forest 0

SUN 2PM – ARSENAL v CRYSTAL PALACE

STATS: Crystal Palace are leading the Premier League for Expected goals, and are seven goals fewer than xG says. No team has a lower Expected goals against than Arsenal whose three goals conceded is 2.5 fewer than xG says. Last start draw between these sides broke a run of five straight wins for Arsenal. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last six home games v Crystal Palace, but only two of them are wins. Arsenal (W5 D4 L1) have lost only one of the 10 Sunday clashes v Crystal Palace, but won only one of the last four. At home on a Sunday v Crystal Palace it is (W3 D3 L1).

Verdict: Probably game of the round.

Arsenal 1 Crystal Palace 1

SUN 2PM – ASTON VILLA v MAN CITY

STATS: Aston Villa have won their last two home games v Man City. Man City are unbeaten (W4 D1) in their last five games on a Sunday v Aston Villa. Aston Villa are 1/1 v big six clubs this season (last weekend’s win v Spurs). Man City are 3/3 v middle eight teams.

Verdict: Both teams recovering nicely after poor starts. A tough one to predict.

Aston Villa 0 Man City 2

SUN 4:30PM – EVERTON v TOTTENHAM

STATS: Everton are one of two teams to still have a 100% record on a Sunday this season, and unlike West Ham, they have played games on a Sunday (as opposed to West Ham’s one). Spurs have lost their only Sunday game. Everton are unbeaten in their last six home game v Spurs, although the last start win was the only non-draw. Nine of the last 13 games between Everton and Spurs at Everton have ended in a draw. Overall on a Sunday at Everton the results are two wins each and seven draws. Everton (W2 D3) are unbeaten v Spurs in their last five meetings.

Verdict: An Everton upset ambush is on here.

Everton 3 Spurs 1

2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9

Leeds 1 West Ham 2
Newcastle 2 Fulham 0
Chelsea 3 Sunderland 0
Man Utd 2 Brighton 1
Brentford 1 Liverpool 2
Wolves 0 Burnley 0
Bournemouth 3 Nott’m Forest 0
Arsenal 1 Crystal Palace 1
Aston Villa 0 Man City 2
Everton 3 Spurs 1

Season Progress

RATING: Enough to keep my job, more wins than Ange.

SEASON: 36/80 – 4 perfect scores.
LAST WEEK: 5/10 – 1 perfect score.

2025 F1 Driver Ratings Featured Image

Here are The Gurgler’s 2025 United States Grand Prix Ratings – our way of rating the performances on the track without causing any red flags or running into our nearest website.

Our G-Power Rankings goes a little bit deeper than just points scored on the Sunday and has a slightly cooler name than most. We take on board Free Practice, Qualifying, performance in relation to teammate, fastest lap, and a few more stats that are attempting to highlight a driver outperforming the car and/or thrashing their teammate.

Normally we have a season long bunch of stats, but we’re saving that for the end of season review that will be way too long for anyone to want to read. Regardless, here is our shortened version for contractual obligations.

2025 United States F1 Grand Prix Result Race Summary

Didn’t see the race live? Don’t have time to watch the whole race? Here’s where we capture the laps where stuff happened. We write these live as we go, sort of like a minute by minute for the football, but marginally more interesting.

Setting the sceneWell if McLaren thought they had problems after Singapore, how about a double elimination in the Sprint Race. For the mini event, Max Verstappen took pole and led the field into turn one, meanwhile Oscar Piastri in third made a slightly better start and drew alongside his team mate Lando Norris at the first corner. Piastri didn’t challenge but went inside to do a switch back and found the front of Nico Hulkenberg which then tipped Piastri into Norris. Norris retired a few hundred metres later with broken wheel, Piastri a little further on with broken suspension. The incident ruined Hulkenberg’s race and ended Fernando Alonso’s. The incident shook up the order enough to see Yuki Tsunoda go from 18th to 8th, and he hung on for a couple of points in 7th.

The rest of the Sprint Race was less eventful, but not uneventful. George Russell attempted a move of Max Verstappen for the lead where they both ran wide. It was as close as Russell would get to winning. Behind that pair was Carlos Sainz for a second podium in 2025 for Williams. The two Ferraris had a moment that would give Team Managers nightmares, as Lewis Hamilton overtook Charles Leclerc after a mistake. Elsewhere midfield racing was good, and there was a moment of pure Stroll as he misjudged his braking into turn one and wiped out Esteban Ocon. He apologised, which is fair enough, but he should also apologise to all the junior drivers out there for hogging a seat with arrogant underperformance.

SPRINT RACE FINISH: VER RUS SAI HAM LEC ALB TSU ANT

Qualifying saw Max Verstappen double down and take the main race pole position, again he beat Lando Norris into second. Oscar Piastri was off the pace and out of sorts in 6th, given his team mate a huge advantage. Ferraris looked quicker than usual, and as ever George Russell does a 2025 George Russell job. Further back Isack Hadjar crashed and starts last, and Lance Stroll extends his lead in missing out in Q1.

GRID (Starting Order) – VER NOR LEC RUS HAM PIA ANT BEA SAI ALO

Lap 1 – Max Verstappen makes a good start and leads into and out of turn one. Charles Leclerc uses the good side of the track and passes Lando Norris for second at the first corner. Championship leader Oscar Piastri stays out of trouble and gets ahead of George Russell who also loses out to Lewis Hamilton. So aside from Lando Norris crashing out, it’s a start that Piastri would be hoping for. But he’s under massive pressure from George Russell. Further back not too much trouble except for a clash between Gabriel Bortoleto and Alex Albon.

ORDER – VER LEC NOR HAM PIA RUS ANT BEA SAI TSU

Lap 3 – Oliver Bearman loses places in consecutive laps to Carlos and Yuki Tsunoda, but still lies 10th and a heaps of places higher than his team mate Esteban Ocon. Further ahead, Lando Norris is giving Charles Leclerc the hurry-up for second place.

Lap 4 – Max Verstappen has cleared out in front, with a gp of 2.5 seconds already. Behind him Leclerc and Norris continue to squabble over second, and the rest of the top six are closing in on the fun as well.

Lap 7 – Kimi Antonelli is off, and Carlos Sainz is parked at the side of the road while the coverage goes for start replays. It looks to be Carlos’ fault as he puts a half hearted move up the inside to one of the hairpins. It eliminates him from the race and drops Antonelli from 7th to the back of the field. Alex Albon pits because he can and he was previously last after first lap contact.

Lap 9 RACE RESUMES

Lap 11 – Both McLaren drivers complaining about tyres over the radio. Radio from McLaren suggests Plan B for Lando Norris. One does wonder if Plan B is “Whatever that will screw up Piastri’s race” but that would be unfair to suggest. Interesting though, as the thinking was McLaren would have all the race pace. Guess it’s easy for Max Verstappen with clear air, he leads by over three seconds.

Lap 14 – Lando Norris closes to within a second of Charles Leclerc after a few laps of taking it easier. Although, Leclerc is on the radio claiming Norris is breaking track limits. A bit cheeky. Further back Lewis Hamilton is drifting further as is Oscar Piastri who is struggling enough for 6th placed George Russell to comment on radio that he is slow.

Lap 15 – So close between Leclerc and Norris as the McLaren jinks and the Ferrari defends several times through the slow last section, but no contact and no overtake for now. But great racing. Commentary confirms there are two track limit warning for Norris, so something for him to watch.

Lap 17 – Norris is back for more of Charles Leclerc’s second place, within half a second, but just not at the right places to overtake. The battle is helping Max Verstappen who is over seven second in front now. Lewis Hamilton closes in, but Oscar Piastri is not, four seconds behind Hamilton.

Lap 19 – Lando Norris almost gets past Charles Leclerc in the slow section but just falls short, but also goes off track during the battle, and he is already on the limit for track limit warnings.

Lap 20 – Oscar Piastri continues to run around four seconds behind Lewis Hamilton, and word from pit lane is he is saving his tyres. One can presume he is saving them for Lando Norris.

Lap 21 – Lando Norris finally gets past Charles Leclerc with a great move into the main hairpin. On the same lap that there is a notice from the stewards about track limits. Norris clears out quickly in second. But he is ten seconds behind Verstappen in the lead.

Lap 22 – Lewis Hamilton decides on wanting a piece of the Charles Leclerc action and the Ferraris run side by side for half a lap. Leclerc keeps his third place then gives it away by pitting at the end of it for new tyres. Leclerc has dumped his soft tyres onto mediums, Leclerc being one of the only runners to start on softs.

ORDER – VER NOR HAM PIA RUS TSU BEA HUL LEC ALO

Lap 26 – Lando Norris in clear air still remains 11 seconds behind the leading Red Bull of Max Verstappen, with Leclerc’s tyre strategy it might be second he’s more concerned about today than going for the win. But at least Norris has left Hamilton behind in third, the Ferrari is over six seconds behind.

Lap 27 – Nice overtaking from Alex Albon on Franco Colapinto for 15th. Whilst acknowledging the lack of performance in the Alpine, there appears to be less and less reason for Colapinto to keep a drive in 2026.

Lap 28 – Max Verstappen radios in as declared the tyres are becoming tricky, Red Bull team note that but ask him to stay out as long as possible. May as well when you’re that far in front. Although arguing with Max isn’t too healthy.

Lap 29 – Replays shows Pierre Gasly, yes he is in the race somewhere, with a pitstop that’s even slower than their on track pace.

Lap 30 – Meanwhile on pace is Charles Leclerc who makes light work of Yuki Tsunoda for 6th on his way back through the field after pitting. Tsunoda appeared so offended he stopped for tyres at the end of the lap.

Lap 31 – Oscar Piastri pits from 5th and rejoins 7th and will have to do a long stint on soft tyres, not long after his radio conversation asked him about switching to softs and Piastri seemed reluctant. Nice way of sabotaging your own car. We can only presume this pitstop was approved by Lando Norris.

Lap 32 – Lewis Hamilton pits and gets out in front of Oscar Piastri, but behind the unpitted Nico Hulkenberg. Lando Norris stops for tyres a lap later, and he gets another slowish pit stops – 3.8 seconds. He luckily he rejoins in front of Lewis Hamilton but behind his Ferrari team mate. We presume that McLaren didn’t contact Ferrari to see if Charles Leclerc would move over for Norris due to the slow pitstop.

Lap 34 – George Russell pits as does Nico Hulkenberg, and the Mercedes resumes being close but not close enough to Oscar Piastri again. The Hulk rejoins 9th, so points is a huge chance today. Which is good to make up for blowing his 4th on the Sprint Race grid for yesterday.

ORDER =- VER LEC NOR HAM PIA RUS TSU BEA HUL ALB

Lap 35 – Oliver Bearman chases Yuki Tsunoda for 7th and in a halfhearted overtaking move into the double right hander the Haas driver spins on the grass on the inside and somehow Tsunoda avoids him as the Red Bull negotiates the corners. Bearman only drops the one place, testament to the job he is doing for Williams.

Lap 37 – Lando Norris closes in on the Ferrari of Leclerc ahead and is almost in DRS range. But he can’t push much as he is already under scrutiny for track limits.

Lap 39 – Lando Norris has closed right in on Ferrari and could pull a move anytime, just not for a few laps.

Lap 45 – Lando Norris has dropped off the back of Charles Leclerc, nearly three seconds behind. Maybe he’s saving tyres for a last minute dash. Another three points could be critical in the Championship if Max Verstappen keeps winning.

ORDER – VER LEC NOR HAM PIA RUS TSU HUL BE ALO

Lap 47 – Midfield battles of choice everywhere. For 10th between Fernando Alonso, Liam Lawson and Lance Stroll, where we know one driver will either stuff up or at a minimum not get any higher. Isack Hadjar and Pierre Gasly for 16th, and Kimi Antonelli and Esteban Ocon for 13th.

Lap 48 – Lando Norris has upped his speed in pursuit of Charles Leclerc and second place. He has closed the gap rapidly and within a lap is within DRS territory.

Lap 51 – Norris is within half a second of Leclerc now and he has a late lunge up the inside into turn one at the beginning of the next lap but runs wide and Leclerc takes back second place.

Lap 52 – Lando Norris dives down the inside into the hairpin on the back straight and takes second place in a nice, clean move. That moves him within 14 points of Oscar Piastri in the Championship.

Lap 53 – Isack Hadjar finally gets past a sluggish Pierre Gasly for 16th. An underwhelming race for the Racing Bulls driver, but that’s what happens when you crash out of qualifying.

Lap 54 – The last of the action for the race features the three cars at the tail of the field – both Alpines and Gabriel Bortoleto. Max Verstappen is looming in the background to lap them all. Alpine get on the radio advising Colapinto not to overtake Gasly. Colapinto is not keen as he believes Gasly is slow. Which he is today.

Lap 55 – Franco Colapinto ignores team orders and dives up the inside of Pierre Gasly at turn one and sort-of runs Gasly wide on the exit too. It was a pretty stupid move if he wants to stay with the team for 2026. Maybe he isn’t, you could easily argue he doesn’t deserve to be on the grid in 2026 on 2025 form.

FINAL LAP – After lapping some back markers, Max Verstappen cruises around the last lap to take a second win for the weekend, and this win shakes up the Drivers Championship contest. Lando Norris seals his second place while Charles Leclerc gets the max out of his Ferrari. One final piece of action is for 4th as Lewis Hamilton (who claims to have a slow puncture) and Oscar Piastri rapidly reeling him in. But it’s not enough this time, only just. Welcome lower points for strugglers Yuki Tsunoda, Nico Hulkenberg and Oliver Bearman.

FINAL ORDER (Across the line) – VER NOR LEC HAM PIA RUS TSU HUL BEA ALO

Here we go through the field and highlight the very best (Great) of the race, and the plodders, the over-ambitious, the out of luck, and simply hopeless (Grape).

These points get added to our Driver of the Season scores. 5 points for a great nomination, and -5 for the worst or grapest driver in the pack. Then it is +2 /-2 for honourable or dishonourable mentions.

THE GREAT-EST – MAX VERSTAPPEN

Can’t do much more than take both pole positions and win both races. McLaren should really start to worry now. Punters are agreeing with their betting money.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

LANDO NORRIS – 2 x second places in qualifying, and gains on his team mate in the Championship, to balance out being wiped out in the Sprint Race. Appears to have the mental advantage of the McLaren duo now.

CHARLES LECLERC – Few would have expected his Ferrari to qualify third and hang onto second for as long as he did. A solid weekend to a point, but surely he’s getting itchy Championship feet.

YUKI TSUNODA – Points for the Japanese driver is good for him and a proper sign that the Red Bull is getting better in general. Won’t save him for 2026 drive option, but at least it’s a positive.

NICO HULKENBERG – Heroic effort in Sprint Qualifying saw him line up 4th on the grid, which sadly ended in tears as he was involved in the first lap fracas. Ran in the top ten of the race.

OLIVER BEARMAN – Another quietly successful weekend of points and beating his more experienced team mate. Doing a very good job for Haas.

THE GRAPE-EST – DANICA PATRICK

Why Sky F1 persist with her commentary I have no idea. Is the Lance Stroll of pundits.

DISHONOURABLE MENTIONS

OSCAR PIASTRI – Another underwhelming weekend, and more points lost to his team mate, and there’s now the problem of a Max Verstappen Championship tilt coming. Essentially caused the crash at the first corner of the Sprint Race and his pace was sluggish in the main race. But at least got in front of George Russell to minimise the Championship damage.

LANCE STROLL – A typically over-ambitious move into turn one saw him slam into Esteban Ocon and ruin two races. Then knocked out in Q1 as is traditional. Just an amateur. No points but at least finished higher than his grid slot and car number in the main race.

CARLOS SAINZ – A brilliant Sprint Race podium was kind of wasted as he threw away more good points with an ordinary attempt to pass Kimi Antonelli for 7th on lap 7. His move was almost as ordinary as Danica Patrick’s attempt to explain it.

ISACK HADJAR – A pair of 12ths in Sprint Qualifying and Race, then spun out and crashed in qualifying, starting from the back. An anonymous 16th in the main race, but at least the last car not be lapped. A rare ordinary race from the RB rookie.

FRANCO COLAPINTO – Told by Alpine not to overtake his (slow moving) team mate Pierre Gasly late in the race. Did it anyway. Given that Alpine is the only likely team to take his services next season, it was plenty dumb to do so. Unless he knows he’s already out for 2026, which is plausible.

Was it a good race, loads of action, a tense ending, a surprise result or DNF, or just a big, fat, snooze-fest?

We rate the big race itself, so we know which races to go back and watch in the off season or one to simply remember the winner for the post season quiz nights.

PRE RACE ACTION (FP, QUAL, SPRINT, OFF TRACK etc) –  5 / 5

An action packed Sprint Race, and Qualifying set up a potentially huge Championship swinging battle. Following on from loads of McLaren paddock talk.

ON TRACK ACTION (RACE) – 5 / 10

Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc provided much entertainment, as did the midfield from time to time.

ANY SURPRISES? – 4 / 5

Red Bull pace is becoming more surprising as Championship attempt is on. Piastri’s lack of pace was also a surprise. Same with Ferrari’s decent race result. And The Hulk’s 4th in Sprint Qualifying proves his talents and why people love him.

SEASON IMPORTANCE – 5 / 5

Lando Norris gains on an increasingly struggling Oscar Piastri. Meanwhile, almost invisibly, Max Verstappen is stalking them both.

ENDING –  2 / 5

Not much towards the end but might have been higher if Piastri had another couple of laps on Lewis Hamilton.

OVERALL RATING – 21 / 30

This could be a key race when we look back on the 2025 season. There may be regrets at points thrown away. The race itself was good, and the Sprint Race saw some action for a change.

Worth slightly less than a Liverpool transfer window, with less jet lag than most players, playing in a formation that was unfashionable and illegal 60 years ago, and safer in our job than any other Australian, it’s our 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 8.

Barely Interesting Stats – 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 8 – Stats and Thoughts

Help yourself to a buffet of barely interesting stats, quick one liners and more to help pick a winner.

BEST OF WEEK 8 STATS

Newcastle have drawn all three away games this season but are one of just two teams not to have lost away so far this season (the other is Spurs W3 D1).

Man City are unbeaten in their last 16 games v Everton (W13 D3) with a last loss in 2017.

Saturdays are good at Fulham for Arsenal – their record is W12 L2. It’s even better at any ground v Fulham on a Saturday with W16 D4 L1, going back to 1966.

SAT 12:30PM – NOTTINGHAM FOREST v CHELSEA

STATS: Chelsea (W3 D1) are undefeated in their last four trips to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest are sitting last on the ladder since Ange took over as manager, sharing one point and -6 goal difference with Burnley and West Ham. Nottingham Forest are yet to keep a clean sheet.

Verdict: Maybe Ange’s last game in charge.

Nottingham Forest 0 Chelsea 2

SAT 3PM – SUNDERLAND v WOLVES

STATS: These teams last met in the 17/18 Championship season where Sunderland won 3-0 at home and drew the away game 0-0. Sunderland have lost only once in their last ten home games v Wolves (W6 D3 L1). Wolves have already lost their only game to a promoted side this season.

Verdict: Wolves got lucky last season.

Sunderland 2 Wolves 0

SAT 3PM – BRIGHTON v NEWCASTLE

STATS: There have been seven draws in the last 13 games between these sides. Brighton are undefeated in their last eight games at home to Newcastle (W3 D5). Brighton have drawn two of their three home games this season. Newcastle have drawn all three away games this season but are one of just two teams not to have lost away so far this season (the other is Spurs W3 D1). Brighton’s games have the highest strike rate of both teams scoring (6/7), while Newcastle’s games are equal lowest (2/7).

Verdict: Draw of the Week

Brighton 1 Newcastle 1

SAT 3PM – BURNLEY v LEEDS

STATS: Burnley held the upper hand for this fixture in the Championship last season with W1 D1. Three of the last four games between these sides at Burnley have ended in a draw, and Leeds won the other game. Burnley (W4 D1 L1) have lost just one of the their last six games on a Saturday v Leeds. Burnley are last for net shots for and against (-10.7).

Verdict: This would have been a relegation six pointer already at this stage last season, these promoted teams have actually won games, but still, it might be.

Burnley 0 Leeds 0

SAT 3PM – CRYSTAL PALACE v BOURNEMOUTH

STATS: Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last eight games on a Saturday v Bournemouth (W3 D5). Crystal Palace have scored exactly two goals five times out of the last six games v Bournemouth on a Saturday. Bournemouth’s six game unbeaten streak is the Premier League current longest. Bournemouth are the only team with a 100% record v London teams this season having played more than one game (Arsenal and Spurs are 100% after one game).

Verdict: A shame the two over-achievers have to play each other this early.

Crystal Palace 1 Bournemouth 1

SAT 3PM – MANCHESTER CITY v EVERTON

STATS: Man City are unbeaten in their last 16 games v Everton (W13 D3) with a last loss in 2017. Man City (W9 D6) are unbeaten in their last 15 home games v Everton with a last loss in 2010.  Man City (W9 D3) are unbeaten in their last 12 games on a Saturday v Everton. The Toffees have lost their only game to a big six team this season.

Verdict: How many will Erling Haaland score?

Man City 3 Everton 1

SAT 5:30PM – FULHAM v ARSENAL

STATS: Arsenal average about one loss a decade to Fulham. But they haven’t won on their last two trips to Fulham (D1 L1). Saturdays are good at Fulham for Arsenal – their record is W12 L2. It’s even better at any ground v Fulham on a Saturday with W16 D4 L1, going back to 1966. Arsenal are 1/1 v London clubs this season. Fulham are W1 L1 v London clubs and D1 L1 v big six clubs.

Verdict: One of those tricky games that will be an early indicator if Arsenal are real deal territory.

Fulham 0 Arsenal 2

SUN 2PM – TOTTENHAM v ASTON VILLA

STATS: Aston Villa have won three of their last five at Spurs. Spurs have an impressive advantage on a Sunday W15 D4 L2. Aston Villa (D2 L1) are yet to win away this season.

Verdict: Decent curtain raiser.

Tottenham 1 Aston Villa 1

SUN 4:30PM – LIVERPOOL v MAN UTD

STATS: Three of the last four games for Liverpool v Man Utd have ended in a draw. Liverpool (W5 D5) are unbeaten in their last ten home games v Man Utd. On a Sunday it is W5 D7 over the last 12 games. Man Utd have had the most shots per game this season (16) just in front of Liverpool (15). Man Utd are also leading the expected goals this season with 13.98.

Verdict: The classic clash of the weekend, another loss and one team is in crisis mode. The other lives in it.

Liverpool 3 Man Utd 2

MON 8PM – WEST HAM v BRENTFORD

STATS: Brentford have won three of their four games at West Ham since their most recent promotion to the Premier League. Overall since promotion, it is W6 D1 L1 v West Ham for Brentford.
