It was the best of NRL Round 4 and the very blurst of the NRL Round 4, and who is best qualified to sort the lamb from the mutton? We are of course, having somehow watched every minute of every game this weekend, and our weekly review is here for the very of you that are interested.
As ever we have our debatable NRL Round 4 Team of the Week, point out the things that made us love Rugby League this weekend, some things that gave us the irits, some Supercoach lessons, plus a few choice things from each game.
Way too much information? Never fear, we won’t go into too much details. We’ve watched all the games so you didn’t have to. Feel free to use our review as the dot point plan for those workplace discussions over the coming week.

A GAME BY GAME GUIDE of the GREAT, GRIPE, and GRAPE FROM NRL Round 4
PENRITH 33 COWBOYS 14
7 / 10
TALKING POINTS
1 – The penalties given away in the defensive 20m zone were a joke, but worse was to come over the weekend.
2 – The Cowboys look flat, they never looked liekly against an enthusiastic Panthers team.
3 – The return of Lachlan Coote is never more needed. They need a spark from somewhere. Scored a try for Mackay in the ISC.
Winners- James Maloney
Losers – John Asiata
RABBITOHS 20 BULLDOGS 16
8 / 10 – Mostly for last few minutes
TALKING POINTS
1 – Foran’s miss would have been sweetest Football penalty, right in the top right corner.
2 – Sam Burgess’ elbow looked nasty, and so the judiciary thought too. But he’s not the only one to do it. Cue another crackdown.
3 – Great to see Greg Inglis back among the try scorers.
Winners – Michael Lichaa
Losers – John Sutton
SHARKS 14 STORM 4
1 / 10 – Worst Game ever
TALKING POINTS
1 – Penalty first play set the tone for another 32 to come by full time.
2 – Slater’s dive to get Luke Lewis in the Sin Bin was worthy of the Champions League.
4 – After 33 penalties and not enough sin binning, was it any wonder the game saw a few minutes of scuffle at the end.
6 – In a game where there were 33 penalties and two sin binnings, both the 10 minute stints given out were reasonably pissweak. Perhaps sending a few more to the bin may have saved the game. Maybe the players would have got it at 10 players a side.
Winners – Wade Graham
Losers – Joe Stimson
WARRIORS 30 ROOSTERS 6
8 / 10 – Love the Warriors style
TALKING POINTS
1 – No Shaun Johnson, no worries for Warriors
2 – Love the NZ Group circle after a try. Can’t argue against recent results since its introduction.
Winners – Wade Graham
Losers – Joe Stimson
SEA EAGLES 32 RAIDERS 16
6 / 10
TALKING POINTS
1 – Tom Trbojevic is an Origin must for NSW. Let’s hope people don’t ruin his career by trying to bulk him up too much, and lose all that speed.
Winners – Tom Trbojevic
Losers -Jack Wighton
DRAGONS 30 KNIGHTS 12
7 / 10
TALKING POINTS
1 – Good signs for both sides for much better 2018 so far.
2 – Doesn’t get much unluckier for Tautau Moga who scores a try and does his knee for a fourth time.
Winners – Nene McDonald
Losers – Kalyn Ponga
TITANS 26 BRONCOS 14
8 / 10
TALKING POINTS
1 – The Broncos would do well if they could make a worse start to a game this season than their effort v the Titans.
2 – Some great, yet unexpected kick assists with prop Ryan James layng on the perfect grubber and winger Phillip Sami doing the rare winger to winger cross field kick.
Winners – Phillip Sami
Losers – Andrew McCullough
TIGERS 30 EELS 20
7 / 10
TALKING POINTS
1 – First second half points for the Eels in 2018
2 – Welcome headache for Tigers with Josh Reynolds back
Winners – Benji Marshall
Losers – George Jennings
