2025 NRL Round 24 Results – Monday’s Experts Key Learnings
It’s easy to throw around a few stats post matches in a Monday’s experts, and we certainly do that, but our Monday’s Experts Key Learning tries to guide you into considering some key stats from the weekend to remember for your next tipping adventure.
NEWCASTLE ARE POINTLESS
Amazingly, Newcastle’s first half blot was their 12th of the season. A clear six worse than the next worst team in South Sydney, who lost a million in a row. Most other teams have done it only three times.
Good news for Knights fans is they have won at least two of those games where they score zero in the first forty minutes. Bulldogs have won two of their three games with a pointless first half. Broncos and Roosters winning their only games with pointless first halves.
Interestingly, the Broncos are worst for the pointless second half with four, winning none of those games.

HOME WINNERS
This round saw only one home side lose, and that was the Panthers in golden point. So that made us wonder how the home sides have done this season by round and whether 7/8 is significant or not.
Sort of, it’s only happened one other time this season.

YOU CAN’T (ALMOST) BEAT MELBOURNE ON A THURSDAY
Melbourne are proving very hard to beat on a Thursday, and what luck for them that they have more games on a Thursday to come. Some say it’s convenient to help keep them competitive, some say they have to do it to avoid being ignored by AFL fans. We wouldn’t say either for the risk of offending Craig Bellamy, and AFL fans don’t care about the Storm yet on any day, it is only August.
But…..
Melbourne have won all five Thursday games this season.
Melbourne have won 15 of their last 16 Thursday games.
Melbourne have won seven in a row on a Thursday away to a Sydney team.
Melbourne have won nine of their last ten away trips on a Thursday.
Melbourne have won seven of their last eight games top half sides on a Thursday.
Oh, and if they’re at home…
Melbourne have never lost a Thursday game at home (20 matches)
BRISBANE THE KINGZ OF QLD
Broncos have won all five games v Qld opposition this season, four of those games being at Suncorp Stadium. They get a chance to make it a 2025 clean sweep in Round 26.
Interestingly, another Queensland side is the worst against Queensland sides – the Gold Coast. Like the Broncos they get another game against a Queensland side when they play the Dolphins in Round 27.

OTHER BITS AND PIECES
Warriors have won all five home games at Mt Smart Stadium v Dragons on a Friday.
Dragons have the worst away record this season with W2 L9. They have also lost six in a row away. Next week’s game v Rabbitohs is their last away for the season, and is only at the Olympic Stadium.
Roosters have won 11 of their last 12 games at Allianz Stadium on a Friday. It’s nine in a row at Allianz Stadium v Sydney teams on a Friday. They still have one more home game there on a Friday this season.
Cronulla have won 11 of their past 12 games v Gold Coast.
No matter how bad Souths are going, they must be pleased to play Gold Coast and Parramatta back to back. Against the Gold Coast they have won ten in a row, and against Parramatta it is now nine wins of their last tens v Parramatta and it’s five in a row at the Olympic Stadium and seven in a row on a Saturday.
Wests Tigers have won the only three games v Manly at the Sydney Football Stadium.
North Queensland have won all seven games v Newcastle at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, plus four more before that at the previous ground.
Newcastle have won two of their last 25 games away to Qld sides in Qld.
