2025 NRL Round 5 Stats of the Week
Need some barely interesting stats to round up your weekend NRL experience? Here’s the choicest cuts of data from the weekend that was.
- Canberra have won the only two Thursday gams between Canberra and Cronulla.
- Penrith are yet to win in Australia in 2025.
- Penrith haven’t lost four in a row since May 2019.
- Since 2020 the Roosters are W2 L6 at the Olympic Stadium.
- Parramatta have won 12 of their last 15 v Dragons. Parramatta have won 10 of their last 12 home games v Dragons.
- Parramatta have won all six home games v Dragons on a Saturday since 1999.
- Dolphins are five wins from five games away to Qld sides that aren’t the Broncos.
- Dolphins are also 3/3 for games v the Titans on the Gold Coast.
- Broncos have broke a three game losing streak on a Saturday by beating the Tigers.
- Melbourne have won the last four matches v Manly on a Sunday.
- Newcastle have lost all five in a row on a Sunday in 2024 v Sydney opposition.

DO TEAMS THAT CONCEDE ZERO POINTS IN A GAME WIN THE PREMIERSHIP?
Since the Bulldogs managed a fifth consecutive win to start the season and kept the Newcastle Knights to zero points, we wondered if that keeping a team to zero point during a season leads to a premiership.
The short answer is no, but since 2010 all but three eventual premiers did keep a team to zero. And there’s lots of top four and top eight finishes.
Worth noting the Bulldogs in 2021 came last but kept the Wests Tigers to nil in the final game of the season.
DO TEAMS THAT SCORE ZERO POINTS HAVE A BAD SEASON OVERALL?
On the flip side, sides that score no points do tend to finish outside the finals. But 10 of the last 12 wooden spooners did score nil in one game of that season.
Although it doesn’t exclude a team from winning the premiership as shown in 2024, 2022 and 2020.
