SATURDAY 3PM – CRYSTAL PALACE v IPSWICH
Crystal Palace have won five in a row v Ipswich, Ipswich haven’t score in the last four of those. Crystal Palace have won the last four games at home to Ipswich too. Crystal Palace had a terrible record v promoted teams last season – W1 D2 L3. Last time in the Premier League Ipswich were W1 D2 L4 away to London sides.

SATURDAY 3PM – LIVERPOOL v FULHAM
Liverpool have only won one game of the last four v Fulham at any ground. At home though, Liverpool have only lost twice to Fulham ever with the record W27 D10 L2. Although those two losses have come in the last nine games there. Liverpool (W17 D7) have never lost at home to Fulham on a Saturday, and Fulham have scored in only one of the last seven visits on a Saturday. Despite losing all three games so far, Fulham have outscored seven other clubs.
Liverpool are doing just enough at the moment to win, and just enough will be enough to beat Fulham.

SATURDAY 3PM – ASTON VILLA v NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Aston Villa have won their last four home games v Nottingham Forest, and are unbeaten in their last ten games there v Forest too (W7 D3). It’s seven home wins in a row for Aston Villa and they have scored at least two goals in all of those games.
Aston Villa are like the pool shark of the Premier League, starting off slow to fool folk into thinking they are no good, get the money on the table, then bam, top five and European glory and lots of money. Nottingham Forest have still got their same manager, which is nice.

SATURDAY 3PM – BOURNEMOUTH v BRENTFORD
Brentford have lost only one of their last 13 games v Bournemouth (W9 D3 L1). Brentford are undefeated in their last four visits to Bournemouth too with a W2 D2 record. At either ground, Brentford have won the last four Saturday games and are also undefeated in 10 games on a Saturday (W8 D2).
A mid table game with mid to lower level interest. Two of the better run clubs though, which tends to be boring.

SATURDAY 3PM – CHELSEA v HULL
Chelsea are undefeated in their last 17 games v Hull (W15 D2) and the last loss to them came in 1988 in the second division. It’s nine wins in a row with the last three all FA Cup games. Chelsea (W18 D5) have never lost at home to Hull, with the last five being wins and the last four clean sheets. But Chelsea had a terrible record v promoted teams last season – W1 D2 L3. Hull are yet to lose or concede this season, that will be tested as Chelsea are the equal top scorers in the division. Hull’s expected goals against is 4.60, so that may catch up with them this weekend.
Who’d think this game would be 4th v 3rd and that Hull would be undefeated and have one loss less than Chelsea. Not many, if any. Good luck to Hull though. But this could be the Premier League reality check.

SATURDAY 5:30PM – TOTTENHAM v EVERTON
These teams only met at this ground in the last game of last season where Spurs got a status-saving 1-0 win. Spurs have won their last five home games v Everton by a combined 14-1. Spurs have also lost just one of their last 20 home games on a Saturday to Everton going back to 1986 (W12 D7 L1). Everton’s away record last season was as good as Chelsea’s, although they only won one away game in London.
You do wonder if the excuses for a side who finished fourth last for the past two seasons will end. Probably not until they hit the Championship. Everton meanwhile, are just doing Everton things.

SATURDAY 8PM – SUNDERLAND v ARSENAL
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 15 games v Sunderland (W11 L4). Although, two of the last three games at Sunderland were draws. Sunderland had a W2 D3 L1 record v big six at home last season. Arsenal’s expected goals against this season is the lowest at 1.27. Sunderland have the fifth lowest at 4.19.
If Arsenal win everyone expects it. If they lose social media will be unreadable. If it’s a draw then no one’s happy. Well, Sunderland’s fans will be happiest.

SUNDAY 2PM – COVENTRY v BRIGHTON
These teams haven’t met in the same league since 2011, with a 2018 FA Cup win to Brighton the most recent match. Coventry won their last three home games to Brighton though. Brighton were quite good v promoted sides last season – W4 D1 L1 and W2 L1 away. Coventry have a better expected goals than fellow promoted side Hull despite not scoring a goal or a point.
Coventry’s Arsenal-Man City start in the first three games seems like sabotage, although they sabotaged themselves against Hull. A result is up for grabs here, as you just never know what Brighton are going to do on the road.

SUNDAY 4:30PM – MANCHESTER UTD v MANCHESTER CITY
The last four seasons the H2H for this match is four wins to Man City, three for Man Utd and one draw. Since 2020 Man Utd’s home record v Man City is W3 D2 L2. At Man Utd on a Sunday, the record for the home side is W7 D4 L4, but the last five Sunday home game record v Man City is W1 D2 L2. Man Utd had last season’s best points per game v big six teams – W7 D2 L1 with a W4 L1 home record. Man City were W2 D2 L1 away to big six teams last season.
A derby that will be big on hype, and Utd have been strangely competitive in this game recently. Man Utd’s Thursday European Champions League game compared to Man City’s Tuesday is a ready-made excuse.

MONDAY 8PM – LEEDS v NEWCASTLE
Newcastle are undefeated in their last six games v Leeds, although four were draws, two of those scoreless. Leeds have won just one of their last nine home games v Newcastle – W1 D3 L5. This will be the first Monday meeting between these sides on a Monday since 1995, and the Monday H2H is shared with four wins each and a draw.
A decent game that most will forget is on in the Monday slot.
