While there has been plenty of fallout over Bangladesh’s Test win over Australia in Darwin, one former park cricketer is convinced they know why Australia lost.
“Too much bloody T20 rubbish!” grumbled Simon, who finished playing C Grade cricket in the Queensland Sub-District competition five years ago, but fills in for his workmate’s indoor cricket team on Wednesday nights when needed.
While Simon admitted he didn’t watch any of the Test match, he skimmed through highlights and is convinced that T20 is the problem.
“The Aussies batsmen were too busy slogging the Bangladesh bowlers for six and kept missing! Did they forget it’s a bloody Test match? The reason the Aussies haven’t played a Test in January is because they’re too busy playing hit and giggle nonsense! Back in my day we played proper two-day cricket only and knew how to hold onto our wicket. Luckily I left the club before we entered a team in that woke T20 comp. I would have refused to play anyway. I only play proper cricket!”
Upon finishing the interview, Simon wrote a rambling Facebook post blaming T20 cricket for the Australian’s loss and vowed never to watch cricket again until Australia learnt to play properly and starting winning again.
