2026 British F1 Grand Prix Prix-view – Race Potential Rating

F1 2023 - Fabi Preview Index Feature Image

The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.

So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.

FAST? 9 / 10 – It’s fast, flowing and one of the better circuits the F1 circus visits. What used to be the first half of the lap from Woodcote corner to Stowe is some of the finest pieces of F1 circuit-ry we get these days and is often copied by newly designed tracks. We should be thankful at least in this regard there’s so many British drivers, as we doubt they’ll ever leave Silverstone.

ACTION? 8 / 10 – The British GP is one where stuff usually happens. First of all, it rains a lot, which always helps. But the circuit has enough slow points for overtaking and first lap mayhem, and fast corners which test the car and driver ability v ambition. And when nothing is happening there’s always teams overthinking strategy and stuffing that up.

BIG HISTORY? – 10 / 10 – This circuit/race has been around since the Championship started, so pretty hard to beat for history. Although the British GP did get shared around until the late 1980’s.

INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 3 /10 – The Weather Channel says the weather looks quite good all weekend with very little chance of rain. Great for fans, but a little let down for those in another country. But it is England, so you never know.

RACE POTENTIAL RATING 75% – Classic circuit with usually classic racing on offer. If you can get over the saturation of English driver bias.
