David Warner wins Jerk of the Month for March 2018

The readers of The Gurgler have spoken, and former Australian Test Cricket Great David Warner has received the most votes for the March 2018 poll.

Just to clarify quickly before we go on, March’s nominations came out just before the Ball Tampering scandal came out, and so was nominated solely for his behaviour before the third test, in particular his reaction to the sledging affair.

This means that on a technicality, based on his ordinary performance as a person since the Ball Tampering saga started, he can be nominated again next month and double up.

Talking of doubling up, Bernard Tomic was chasing an historic triple monthly win in March, and as ever polled strongly, mainly because he is a 24/7/365 Jerk.

One person who was thankful for the Ball Tampering saga was Karl Stefanovic, who was looked a real good chance of being a deserving Jerk of the Month for March. Perhaps that’s why he went off on his morning show a few times, to try and deflect what a Jerk he was himself. You get the feeling that like the gents above, he’ll be nominated again.

Returning nominations are also expected for Benny Elias, if you have seen his “fine” work on Fox Sports. Elias finished as best of the rest along with the entire Australia v South Africa Test Series to that point, and the whole Married At First Sight show.

Gun wielding Greek Football Club owner Ivan Savvidis came next in the voting, although he was subsequently banned for three years after his efforts.

The rest barely rated a mention in the voting, and we will probably never see them again. Especially the travelling Irish Crew.
