With Time Magazine unveiling their Person of the Year edition, our own poll – the 2017 Gurgler Person of the Year is under way and our next nomination is the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep. Unlike Time magazine, we give the ultimate power back to the readers and let you decide the ultimate winner. Voting will open soon once all nominations have been announced.
The Gurgler’s 2017 Person of the Year is a celebration of the people we think are important or deserving of some much needed limelight, not necessarily the most famous people on the face of the earth, in fact most would have barely heard of some of our nominees. Or ones that aren’t real humans at all.
That’s the way we like it, celebration the forgotten, the underappreciated, the unsung heroes, the lesser lights, the Gurgler People of the Year.
You can also Vote for 2017 Jerk of the Year. But we’re trying to be a little more positive here for the 2017 Person of the Year.

FARMER FROM SHAUN THE SHEEP
You don’t necessarily need to be a human to be nominated for 2017 Gurgler Person of the Year.
Like Duck from Sarah and Duck – who polled strongly in the 2015 Gurgler Person of the Year – people love a quality character, whether they are real or not.
The farmer from Shaun the Sheep has plenty of character, usually spent yelling and/or shaking his fist at something or someone. Mostly justified.
But he’s always up for things, a man who’ll give anything a go. Motorcycle, Hot Air Ballooning, Quad Biking, Painting, Sculpting amongst many of his extra activities away from Farm Life.
With the first Shaun the Sheep Movie doing so well, there is a second one coming in 2018, and perhaps then the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep and we have no doubt the Farmer will be a household name in a household that has kids, and males who like to act as kids.
We recently had theme week for the unsung heroes that are the Farmers across the World, and in our top 6 Farmers of all time was the Farmer from Shaun the Sheep. So it is no surprise that the man with a short temper has earned himself a place in the Gurgler Person of the Year for 2017.
Shaun the Sheep was a follow up from the excellent Wallace and Grommitt TV Show, and one wonders how many adults also enjoy having the Farm based show on air. of which we are unashamedly one.

The Voice of Australian Football, may no longer be with us, but he can still be our Person of the Year.

The Tennis Jerks may not be nice, likeable, or indeed People of the Year, but their contribution to content here means they are a must include.
6 – Willie Minoga
The 2015 Person of the Year delivered the greatest live sporting moment in history as he scored the winning try to allow the PNG Hunters to win the Intrust Super Cup.
