The NRL have announced an exciting new off-season competition, to be run by Fox Sports.
The NRL 360 Cup will see the bottom four sides (Gold Coast, Newcastle, NZ Warriors, Wests Tigers) play each other in a round robin competition during the NRL finals series.
Played on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, exclusively at Leichhardt Oval, the 360 team will commentate every game, followed by a live two-hour version of the usual panel show at the end of each round.
Though, unlike other competitions, there will be no ‘winner’: instead, the fourth-placed team at the end will be punished with six months of baseless and controversial clickbait articles from the worst of the the Fox League Staff Writers team. The top three teams will be left alone for the summer.
“The worst team deserves the most gutter of gutter journalism,” said Paul ‘I played one game of first grade’ Kent. “We’re talking Charlie Kelly and Frank Reynolds-levels of putrid filth. The staffers have to write at least three articles a week about the ‘worst of the worst’ side until the 2023 pre-season trials start. They won’t even be edited or fact-checked. It’s their own fault for finishing last.”
