Welcome to our weekly look at the upcoming weekend of NRL, that’s if you have any more room left for rugby league after the buffet that is State of Origin. Thankfully our NRL Round 14 Predictions Stats Preview + Alternative Tips is low in fat and has the Heart Foundation tick of approval.
Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats which seem to be growing every week, our own Form-O-Meter on which side is hot and not, and our own thoughts on who will win.
We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.
This week it’s based on a State of Origin stat.
So enjoy the 2022 NRL Round 14 Predictions Stats Preview + Alternative Tips where there’s something for everyone. Mostly.

2022 NRL Round 14 Barely Interesting Stats Summary
Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.
North Queensland don’t have a very good record on a Friday. They have lost seven in a row on a Friday and 11 of their last 12. The Cowboys have won just four times since the beginning of 2019 for a win % of 18%. Lucky it’s at home though, as the Cowboys have lost all 11 of their Friday away games since 2019. For the record, the Dragons have won just 5 / 17 on a Friday since 2019.
Despite their lofty ladder position in comparison to last season, the Cowboys have lost all three home games to Sydney clubs this season and are on a six game losing streak at home to Sydney sides.
St George Illawarra have the second best record for games after Origin 1, their win % of 80% is not far away from Melbourne’s 82%.
South Sydney are on a run of six straight wins v Gold Coast. It’s also six in a row on the Gold Coast for Souths too. The Titans last win at home v Souths was in 2009.
Souths have won five in a row v Qld opposition on a Saturday.
Gold Coast Titans have won just four games out of 23 at CBUS Stadium v Sydney teams since 2018.
The Titans have played top eight opposition (table position at time of match) more than any other team this season (10 times). They have lost all ten games.
Melbourne have won four in a row v Roosters. The Roosters have scored a total of ten points in the last three contests.
Melbourne’s record v Sydney teams on a Saturday isn’t great – they have lost four of their last six.
Canberra have the worst winning record at Suncorp Stadium of any NRL team since 1998. Two of their four wins at Suncorp Stadium since 1998 have come against opposition that aren’t the Broncos. Raiders last beat Canberra at Suncorp in 2010.
The Broncos have a 67% winning record at home on a Saturday – it is their best night for that stat.
Wests Tigers have lost four in a row playing Sydney teams on a Sunday. Scoring just ten points in total in their last three. Sounds like a stat from earlier. Manly have won their last four Sunday games v Sydney teams.
Manly have won just one of six away games this season. Only the winless Gold Coast and Bulldogs (one win in seven) have a worse record.
Penrith have won all five away games this season, they are the only team with a 100% away record. No team has a 100% home record this season.
Newcastle have just one win in seven games v top eight sides this season.
Warriors have lost five in a row v Sydney teams.
Going back to 2018 the Warriors have won just six of their last 28 games on a Sunday.
Cronulla haven’t had a consecutive result since April 10.

BRONCOS WINNING RECORD BY DAY
You’d imagine with all the games they get on a Thursday and Friday that the Broncos’ best performances come on the Channel Nein friendly days.
But you’d be wrong. Here re the results.
