FPL Captain Picks GW4 Captain’s Table

Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW4 results. A full explanation of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.

We show only the top ten, the entire data is determined by our selection of the top 30 or so potential captain choices.

Stats are based up to GW3  except for scoring records.

We extended it out from our usual ten to eleven due to a certain someone who just missed out. Of course they would have been higher if they had any current EPL form. But we did work out a points per minute based on previous seasons.

FPL Captain Picks GW4 Analysis

Long gone are the Bruno v Salah decision weeks. There are many choices this week, and every week from now on by the looks. Especially when we see what Ronaldo gets up to, and for the eventual 21-22 awakening of Harry Kane.

This week top spot remains with Michail Antonio and why wouldn’t he be top as he is around the top for most FPL stats we have on display below, and his team have a very winnable game away to Southampton. West Ham have won six of the last seven games v Southampton (+ 1 Draw). Antonio’s returns against Southampton aren’t great but he’s never been in better form. Our Captain’s Table got it right last weekend, so let’s see lightning can strike twice. We believe Antonio can at least once.

We went off Mo Salah for last gameweek’s captaincy because of the fixture v Chelsea more than anything, but Mo still got the one goal proving how invaluable he is. He should get a bit more freedom to play this weekend, and has a good return of three goals in two games v Leeds. Liverpool are unbeaten in 10 games v Leeds which means it should be a good day out for Salah.

Manchester United provide three great options this week and they have a great record v Newcastle. The Red Devils have won five of their last six matches v Newcastle at home (1 Draw) and scored three goals or more for all of those wins. So lots of points to go around then. The big question is how Ronaldo affects the rest of the team. Will he suddenly make FPL king Bruno Fernandes less effective? Aside from his first game heroics it’s not as if he is in the best form.

Mason Greenwood has great stats this season and is in wonderful form, but he may well be more affected by Ronaldo’s return. But surely he will start this week.

Cristiano Ronaldo is back but will he start is the big question. Given Man Utd’s record against Newcastle you’d think even if he can on as a sub he would have time for at least one FPL goal contribution.

Calvert-Lewin and Jesus are good options, especially given Everton’s game against Burnley, but will he start if there’s a slight injury concern. Same for Jesus and a potential ban due to the International break.

TOP TEN CAPTAIN PICKS STATS

For your consideration are the below key stats from last season’s FPL for the Top Ten players from our Captain’s Table.

It may be stats heavy, but it does agree with our first two Captain’s Table picks. Antonio and Mo Salah out in front by a decent margin.

FPL Captain Picks GW4 Final Say

FPL 2021-22 Fantasy Premier League Captain hello goodbye

HELLOMo Salah good history against Leeds, top stats, what’s not to like.

CALL ME MAYBECristiano Ronaldo/Mason Greenwood/Bruno Fernandes or Harry Kane Manchester Utd offer so much this weekend, but who to pick is hard. Harry Kane is a left field option with a Crystal Palace games ahead. Unless Palace put up the same kind of fight that they showed against West Ham.

GOODBYERomelu Lukaku love the player and is a future member of our FPL team, but slight injury worry is just that – a worry. So staying clear for just this week as no point having a captain that doesn’t start.

FPL Captain Picks GW4 – Other Stats

2021-22 SEASON STATS SO FAR

Before one ventures into the new gameweek, how about a review of who is doing the best at the moment across a wide range of key stats.

We’ve hand picked the best of them from last weekend’s action.

CHANCES CREATED

It’s when you see numbers like TAA’s Chances Created you are filled with seller’s remorse for not having the Liverpool defender in your team.

Wolves duo Jiminez and Traore underline the mystery of Wolves inability to win or score right now. It makes them so tempting to be on board if it all begins to click. Hopefully not as long as it took Brighton to last season. Wolves are third overall for Chances.

Newcastle’s Matt Ritchie is a mild surprise in the top three for Chances Created.

TOUCHES

Jack Grealish top the touch count for inside the final third, which is a touch surprising as sometimes if feels watching Man City games that his team mates don’t like to pass him the ball if they can help it.

No surprise to see so many Man City players in the top tens given their style of play and consecutive 5-0 wins v mediocre opposition.

Again Adama Traore pops up in the top results, making his case for your FPL team.

SHOTS

More of the same here with Antonio being great and Wolves players up high in the stats.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s 11 shots have all come within the penalty box, maximising chances of scoring. While Raphinha is high on shots, but most of them are outside the box.

Highlighting their usefulness as a cheaper striker option is Armstrong from Southampton who has impressed so far in the Premier League.

Soucek is proving more than a one season wonder too.
