Our Quick Look at the Intrust Super Cup Round 19

Now that Origin is over, and the seemingly inevitable Queensland series win and witch hunt on Mitchell Pearce has happened, it is time to get back into business as usual, starting with the Intrust Super Round 19.

This week is the reversal of rivalry round in Round 6, so it is a weekend of quality clashes.

The Bayside derby between Redcliffe v Wynnum, the Gold Coast stoush between Tweed Heads and Burleigh, and some quality northern Queensland match ups – Townsville v Northern Pride and Mackay v Central.

The other two games feature SEQ sides, and both will have a say in the teams chasing a top 6 finish. A loss for Souths Logan and win for Ipswich will see them draw level on points, if not for and against.

And after all of this there’s the country week next round. A big couple of weeks in the Intrust Super Cup.

Onto to the rest of our mini preview.

Intrust Super Cup Round 19 Match Previews in 25 Words or So

Townsville Blackhawks v Northern Pride
Jack Manski Oval on Saturday – 6pm

Last match of the three way Foley Shield between Twonsville, Pride and Mackay, and the Blackhakws already have it sewn up. They are undefeated against those sides this year and the Pride since their inception in 2015. The record stands at 5-0 to Townsville. Pride looking to snap a seven game losing streak.

Mackay Cutters v CQ Capras
BB Print Stadium Mackay on Saturday – 6pm

The Capras get to play their nearest neighbour at just over 300 kms away in a Central Queensland rivalry. The Cutters could still make the finals with some help, the Capras need to win to avoid finishing at the bottom in an ever tightening race.

Redcliffe Dolphins v Wynnum Manly Seagulls
Dolphin Oval on Saturday – 7pm

Bayside Herald Cup is up for grabs, but Redcliffe hold the upper hand after a 24-0 win at Wynnum earlier in the season. Seagulls had a good win in Rockhampton last weekend, the Dolphins lost to an understrength Falcons in the weekend’s big clash.

Norths Devils v Souths Logan Magpies
Bishop Park on Sunday – 1.40pm

The TV game picks up an all Brisbane clash between the Devils and Magpies, and after Norths broke their seven game streak in Cairns last weekend, they will be looking to bring the 6th placed Magpies closer to the chasing pack. Magpies were well beaten by Ipswich last weekend. Both sides have been affected by the Origin withdrawals.

Tweed Heads Seagulls v Burleigh Bears
Piggabeen Sports Complex on Sunday – 2pm

Burleigh haven’t won since their 44-0 thrashing of Ipswich, but will be keen to get back on track against their Gold Coast rivals, and they’ve got some good Titans fringe players back. Tweed Heads need to win to get off the bottom of the ladder. They have had some good wins in the last month beating Redcliffe at home and the PNG Hunters in Port Moresby.

Easts Tigers v Ipswich Jets
Suzuki Stadium, Langlands Park on Sunday – 3pm

Ipswich were impressive against Souths Logan last weekend, keeping their finals hopes alive, Easts were impressive too backing up their win against the Falcons with a solid win over Mackay. Coming into form at the right time of the year, but will need to keep winning to guarantee a home final.
