The Gurgler previews this weekend’s action in the Queensland Cup Round 24 or the Intrust Super Cup to give it the official name.
Each week, or most weeks we have the rundown on the week including TV Times and Live Streams, Odds, Tips, Results and the home of the unofficial PNG Hunters update.
THIS WEEK’S GAMES in 25 WORDS OR LESS
A brief intro to the games ahead – a full preview on each game is at Nothing But League.
IPSWICH JETS v TWEED HEADS SEAGULLS
Reigning premiers done for 2016, Tweed Heads need one win from last two to avoid wooden spoon.
MACKAY CUTTERS v SOUTHS LOGAN MAGPIES
Souths Logan need a win for final survival. Cutters need a win to give the wooden spoon for someone else.
CENTRAL CAPRAS v REDCLIFFE DOLPHINS
Second visit to Gladstone in 2016. Cnetral 0/3 there in 2 seasons. Redcliffe leanest defence, Capras 2nd worst attack.
EASTS TIGERS v BURLEIGH BEARS
Two teams on the slide. Easts almost out of the top six. Burleigh from top spot. Both can make amends with a win.
SUNSHINE COAST FALCONS v WYNNUM SEAGULLS
Falcons looking more impressive with each week. Should see of fellow finals compeditor Wynnum.
NORTHERN PRIDE V PNG HUNTERS
PNG Hunters looking to avoid consecutive losses against FNQ sides.
PNG CORNER
The Hunters went down to the Blackhawks for the first time in regular season last weekend. This leaves our favourite sporting team in 4th, which still means finals, although we will wait and see if their final is in PNG this year, unlike last year. One wonders why a team would be admitted into a competition but not given the same conditions as other sides. But after last year’s backlash, surely they won’t be that foolish again.
This week sees a trip to Cairns for the game against the Northern Pride, and they have a few missing from suspension and injuries.
