The Gurgler’s Look at the Queensland Cup / Intrust Super Cup Round 16

THIS WEEK’S INTRUST SUPER CUP PREVIEW BROUGHT TO YOU BY THIS WEEK’S QUEENSLAND CUP LEGEND – GRANT FLUGGE

THIS WEEK’S GAMES in 25 WORDS OR LESS

Easts Tigers v Northern Pride @ Suzuki Stadium, Langlands Park – Kick Off – Saturday 3pm

Replay of the 2014 Grand Final – and will make the lower reaches of the top 6 interesting if the Pride win.

Townsville Blackhawks v Sunshine Coast Falcons @ Jack Manski Oval – Kick Off – Saturday 4pm

2 losses in a row is unfamiliar territory, as is Jack Manski Oval for the Falcons as they play in Townsville for the first time. Willie Minoga is in.

Central Capras v Burleigh Bears @ Browne Park – Kick Off – Saturday 6pm

Capras scored their only 2015 win against the Bears. That wasn’t this year’s table topping Burleigh though. But they have also surprised them earlier in this season too.

Redcliffe Dolphins v Mackay Cutters @ Dolphin Oval – Kick Off – Sunday 1:40pm

TV Cameras show the new Dolphin Oval for the first time. Last placed Mackay have a new coach – will he bring new luck?

Tweed Heads Seagulls v Souths Logan Magpies @ Piggabeen – Kick Off – Sunday 2pm

Midfield battle for two teams hoping to stay in touch with top 6. Hopefully a lot drier than last weekend.

Norths Devils v PNG Hunters @ Bishop Park – Kick Off – Sunday 3pm

Can the Hunters start winning again on the road. Devils on a high from Bundaberg win.

The full preview is with our friends at Nothing But League. Catch up with it all here.

PNG CORNER

THE HUNT FOR PNG OCTOBER

The PNG Hunters are back in South East Queensland, and there’s no better way to warm up than seeing the boys from PNG lighting up Bishop Park this Saturday.

PNG have now won three in a row courtesy of a generous run at home, but the competition’s best home record means little if you can’t get it done on the road, especially given the travels that await the Hunters each year. They won three of their four away, but have struggled since. The international break also halted their progress.

Norths had a good win last weekend in Bundaberg and return to familiar territory this weekend, and have been much stronger in 2016, so will provide a quality contest for the Hunters. It also provides a quality old style location close to most places in Brisbane for some Sunday afternoon football.

If you can’t get to the game, then tune in wherever you are via live stream courtesy of the QRL.
