The Gurgler’s Look at the Queensland Cup / Intrust Super Cup – Round 13

THIS WEEK’S INTRUST SUPER CUP PREVIEW BROUGHT TO YOU BY THIS WEEK’S QUEENSLAND CUP LEGEND – JAMES WOODS

THIS WEEK’S GAMES in 25 WORDS OR LESS

Wynnum Seagulls v Sunshine Coast Falcons @ BMD Kougari Oval – Kick Off – Saturday 6pm
Six Losses have been followed by five straight wins. Top 6 possibly awaits with a win.

PNG Hunters v Northern Pride @ National Football Stadium – Kick Off – Saturday 6:30pm
Both teams come off losses and neither in wonderful form. Hunters haven’t lost in PNG for 2 years, but playing like that could change.

Townsville Blackhawks v Norths Devils @ Jack Manski Oval Kick Off – Sunday 1:40pm
Norths scored a confidence boosting win, but the Blackhawks in Townsville as one of the Qld Cup’s toughest.

Souths Logan Magpies v Mackay Cutters @ Davies Park Kick Off – Sunday 2:05pm
Magpies surprised the Pride last weekend, and look to claim another northern Queensland scalp.

Burleigh Bears v Easts Tigers @ Pizzey Park – Kick Off – Sunday 2:00pm
Premium clash between tough sides in the Qld Cup. Did the Bears loss last weekend take the wind out of their sails? Can Easts build on Townsville win?

Tweed Heads v Ipswich Jets @ Piggabeen Kick Off – Sunday 2pm
The Jets are back with all the trimmings. We hope.

Redcliffe Dolphins v Central Capras @ Dolphin Oval Kick Off – Sunday 2pm
Redcliffe smashed Central 68-16 to record first win at home in a year at that point. Different Capras. Also a different Redcliffe.

Why not catch up with the full preview from Nothing But League with two quality professional writers and then also the stuff we add.

PNG CORNER

THE HUNT FOR PNG OCTOBER

The PNG Hunters season is starting to unravel a bit, with three losses in the past four games and no wins in the two games since the PNG Kumuls Test win over Fiji. They also look like they have lost that unpredictable edge that made them so popular, a telling stat was the offload count from the match which Ipswich were miles ahead in. A tough game against Pride awaits in their attempt to turn the bad results around. Home advantage should be king, as they haven’t lost in PNG for almost two years and never at either Port Moresby ground.

Stargroth Amean is replaced at fullback by the lanky Oti Tony Bland. The Boas brothers reunite in the halves just like the PNG International Test. A new name in the squad in the form of Butler Morris adds a little intrigue.
