TEAM LISTS

The Team Lists for Round 2 are out and available in full here from the QRL. We have a few points below

  • The first thing we check is that #16 W. Minoga has been selected for the Townsville Blackhawks. He’s in, job done.
  • News of Wayne Bennett “reassigning” some of his young Broncos after some disappointment at missing out at the Ipswich Jets has seen some movement this week. Marion Seve turns out for Souths Logan, and Elijah Alick and Salesi Funaki are chosen for Wynnum. The new clubs wouldn’t dare not selecting them would they?
  • PNG Hunters have two brothers in the halves – Ase and Watson Boas. Could they be the PNG version of the Johns brothers.

THE HUNT FOR PNG OCTOBER

Each week we’ll bring a brief update on our favourite team in this competition – the excitement machine that is the PNG Hunters.

The PNG Hunters put their hoodoo of Kougari Oval to bed last weekend to remain unbeaten after two games, and looked mightily impressive in doing so, against a side they hadn’t yet beaten away. Good signs for even more improvement in 2016.

A very big week ahead for the Hunters as they play their first game at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby, and with a sell out 15000 crowd expected, it will be hard for the Tweed Seagulls to win or just about any other team in the competition this year. Interest is in not only the results, but the crowd. By our reckoning, the PNG Hunters could outdraw most of the NRL games this weekend. And if anything screams give this side a chance at NRL the full house and two competition points will prove the doubters wrong.
