Queensland Cup 2015 Season Review with Nothing But League

It was the best of times, it was the 2015 Queensland Cup aka Intrust Super Cup, a season long voyage across 30 different locations covering thousands of kilometres from Kokopo in PNG to Tweed Heads in NSW and out to Blackall and other far flung places around Queensland including even Stradbroke Island.

Not that it was all about exotic and different locations, there was some fantastic rugby league played, and the standard is not far off the lower end of the NRL if not surpassing. The Ipswich Jets showed the Intrust Super Cup’s strength with a second consecutive Queensland triumph in the State Championship decider on NRL Grand Final day.

Talking of Ipswich, the Gurgler congratulates the Jets for their success in both the Intrust Super Cup and State Championship. Their style of play has been a joy to watch and refreshing and the fact that it is now successful means we might have seen the end of one-out, big boppers, grapple-fest rugby league.

Although the PNG Hunters didn’t make the Grand Final, much to the disappointment of The Gurgler, many fans and admirers around Queensland, and the 7 million odd residents of PNG, they were great to watch this season and their enthusiasm was infectious. Hopefully for them they can go a little further in 2016.

All the clubs were great though, and all had plenty to offer from time to time in 2015, and am looking forward to a new season of stories in 2016.

As ever, and for the final time, Nothing But League have the full details in the links below, covering the 2015 season in their review.
