    What a big weekend Gameweek 33 was, where two of the three title chasers choked big time, leaving Man City to win, again. Talking of bottling, our Premier League Week 34 Predictions and useful stats are here with a slab of sparkling football stat-ery. And it’s a bumper edition with extra games into next week.

    Each week we provide a meandering look into the upcoming round of Premier League football, with not only our predictions for the upcoming Premier League fixtures but offer up a wide range of H2H and in-season stats and barely interesting facts. This week is shorter than usual, that’s because there’s a day to do it. And no one reads this anyway.

    2023-24 Premier League Week 34 H2H Stats

    Need a reason to pick one team over another, or just have a stat ready to impress friends and family, either way you are welcome to our favourite H2H stats of the current gameweek.

    LUT v BRE – Brentford have won the last four meetings v Luton on a Saturday, and by a combined 15-1.

    SHU v BUR – The home team (either side) has not lost any of the five Premier League clashes between these sides – W4 D1.

    SHU v BUR – Sheffield United are one of only two sides yet to beat a bottom six side (at time of match) at home this season. Luton are the other team.

    WOL v ARS – Arsenal have won five in a row v Wolves. Arsenal have also won four games in a row at Wolves on a Saturday.

    EVE v NFO – Nottingham Forest have lost just one of the six Sunday games v Everton (W3 D2 L1) but Everton are unbeaten at home on a Sunday v Nottingham Forest (W1 D1).

    AVL v BOU – Aston Villa are unbeaten in the two Sunday clashes between these sides. W1 D1.

    AVL v BOU – Bournemouth have won just one Sunday game this season (W1 D3 L3). Aston Villa have played the most games on a Sunday this season with 17 and have a record of W9 D4 L4.

    CRY v WHU – Crystal Palace are unbeaten v West Ham in April – W4 D2. They have also won their only home game on a Sunday this season.

    FUL v LIV – Fulham are W2 L2 at home to top six sides this season.

    FUL v LIV – The last two games between Fulham and Liverpool at Fulham have ended in draws.

    ARS v CHE – Arsenal have won only one of their last 12 games on a Sunday v Chelsea. Chelsea have won nine games. At least Arsenal’s last win was the most recent game. At home v Chelsea on a Sunday Arsenal haven’t won any of their last six games, and their last home win on a Sunday v Chelsea was in 2007.

    WOL v BOU – Bournemouth have a respectable W5 L3 v Wolves at Wolves.

    MUN v SHU – Sheffield Utd won the most recent match between these sides at Man Utd.

    MUN v SHU – Man Utd are unbeaten in four home games v bottom sides (at time of match).

    CRY v NEW – Three of the last five games between Crystal Palace and Newcastle have ended in a draw. The last two games at Crystal Palace were draws and four of the last six too.

    EVE v LIV – Everton haven’t won a home game v Liverpool since 2010, and it has been D9 L3 since. Five of those nine draws were 0-0.

    EVE v LIV – Liverpool have won the last five midweek games v Everton by a combined 20-3.

    BHA v MCI – Man City’s record v Brighton in the Premier League is W11 D1 L1,

    If the above wasn’t enough, how dare you. But if you still need help on who to pick this weekend, here’s a few general season stats that caught our eye this week. Or share via social media. Responsibly. 

    • Luton have the worst average point v London clubs this season, and equal lowest win total (one).
    • Aston Villa have the best points per game on a Saturday this season with a cracking 2.55 from nine wins, one draw and one loss.
    • Man City are the only team not to lose a game v middle eight teams (at time of fixture) this season. W8 D2.
    • Crystal Palace are the only team that are unbeaten on a Sunday this season (W2 D1)
    • Chelsea have won two games v big six sides this season, Liverpool haven’t won any.
    • For interest here is the midweek summary for team results from Monday to Thursday. Liverpool, Bournemouth and West Ham are the only unbeaten sides.

    It’s probably too late, but here is an interesting look at the expected goals or xG of each team vs the goals they have actually scored.

    We have split it into top and bottom sides, as ever, the middle sides are obscure and sort-of playing for nothing.

    Points of interest are plentiful. Luton are the only bottom six team to have scored more than expected. Everton certainly haven’t yet are surviving. Just. And the teams dropping off in the top section of the table are visible as they drift into more xg than goals territory.
