THURSDAY 7:50PM – BULLDOGS v PENRITH @ Accor Stadium

Pick your own line – Penrith -15.5 start @ $1.78

Penrith don’t look like losing and are averaging 38 points scored per game. The Bulldogs can’t seem to get away from the headlines when it comes to team selections and are averaging 17 points scored per game. Choosing the own line as don’t trust a -16.5 start.

FRIDAY 6PM – ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA v MANLY @ WIN Stadium

St George Illawarra to win @ $2.90

Some people might think we’re crazy given the relative performances of these teams last weekend, but there are some serious stats on the Dragons side, and one does wonder about the long term effect of Kieran Foran on a team that looked ordinary enough to have the coach sacked after four games. Dragons are W10 L2 at WIN Stadium v Manly and are actually on a great four game winning run for home games on a Friday, and have won the four games by a combined 144-48. Manly meanwhile are terrible away from home on a Friday winning just one of their last 13 away games on a Friday. But Manly’s stats were terrible away on a Thursday before last weekend too.

FRIDAY 8PM – BRISBANE v NORTH QUEENSLAND

Brisbane to win 1-12 @ $2.95

So many key injuries, it’s hard to pick the Broncos to win, but their record v Qld teams and at Suncorp Stadium is so good. Brisbane have won six games straight v North Queensland, Brisbane have won 13 games straight at Suncorp Stadium v Qld opposition on a Friday and it’s eight in a row v all Queensland sides on any day or ground. Given the Cowboys are on a three game winning streak, and the Broncos have key outs, the smaller Brisbane win seems the bet to have.

SATURDAY 3PM – SOUTH SYDNEY v CANBERRA @ Optus Stadium, Perth

Pick your own line – Canberra +8.5 start @ $1.65

With these teams at either end of the ladder or thereabouts, you’d think Souths is the easy bet. Maybe they are, but some stats say Canberra. For instance, Canberra are on a run of four straight wins over Souths, who last beat the Raiders in 2021 and South Sydney have lost five in a row in Perth, which kind of makes you wonder why they take a home game there. Then you realise money is involved. But can you trust a team that has lost four games in a row heading into this game? No, which is why we took the coward’s way out with the 8.5 start for the Raiders.

SATURDAY 5:30PM – CRONULLA v ROOSTERS @ Optus Stadium, Perth

Total Match Points – Over 50.5 points @1.98

Neither of these sides have lost in Perth – Cronulla three games and Roosters one. The five games played between these sides at grounds not the regular home venue is 55.6 points. That will do as a neutral.

SATURDAY 7:30PM – MELBOURNE v WAHS

Melbourne / Melbourne – Half Time / Full Time Double @ $1.63

Despite their recent troubles, you find it hard to believe the Wahs can turn around the lop sided H2H stats – Melbourne have won 17 games in a row v Warriors and Melbourne have won 11 home games in a row v Warriors. But for value we’ll go for Melbourne to lead and half and full time. The Storm’s only first half deficit was against the dominant Panthers last weekend, and given their H2H superiority, should power onto victory.

SUNDAY 2PM – PARRAMATTA v GOLD COAST

Parramatta to win @ $1.60

Parramatta are two wins from two vs bottom half opposition, which is where the Gold Coast Titans currently and usually reside. Gold Coast’s away record is poor, prior to beating the Dragons in Round 4, Gold Coast had lost 15 Sunday games in a row. Plus the Gold Coast have lost 14 away games in a row at grounds other than Suncorp Stadium on a Sunday. Their last win was Round 1 in 2023 at Leichhardt. Parra’s home form is good enough – Parramatta are on a run of six wins in a row as the home side v Titans.

SUNDAY 4PM – WESTS TIGERS v NEWCASTLE @ Campbelltown

Tribet Margin – Either side to win by 8 points or less @ $2.25

Who’d think this game would be a blockbuster between two top four sides? Given it’s hard to believe the form, and that the last four games between these sides with the Wests Tigers as the home team saw a margin of less than six points. Oh, and Newcastle won all four.
