A rugby league fan has found a way to beat the NRL off-season boredom.
With no interest in cricket, basketball, or tennis, Peter has spent his time watching movies and TV with the family, even though he struggles to maintain interest in them.
“The movies are too boring and predictable and the wife cares more about TV shows than I do. I had to find a way to watch footy again.”
After some negotiations, Peter found a solution: he can watch two 2024 NRL replays a weekend (between Friday night and Sunday afternoon), with games picked at random. This will run until the start of the Pre-Season Challenge in February.
“My kids made a clever wheel on the computer: one with the numbers 1-31 and another with the numbers 1-8. Whatever comes up is the game I watch. And if the numbers don’t match up to a game, we spin again until we get it right.”
While Peter can watch the games by himself, he still has to participate in family movie and TV nights.
“I can live with that. Now I spend that time wondering what footy games I may watch that weekend.”
