EVERYDAY NEWS – Everything’s Electric All Over Again

Liam’s Gallagher new single “Everything’s Electric” has made one former Oasis fan feel as excited as he was in 1995.

“I’ve been counting down the single on the various Oasis and Liam fan pages on Facebook, and I stayed up until midnight on Thursday night so I could listen when it hit Spotify. I love it! I listened to it five times before I went to bed! Liam’s voice is incredible and the tune’s catchy as hell! This is gonna be biblical live!” said 40-year-old Canberra-based accountant Peter. “I love that ‘RKid’ is still a Man of the People and is hungry to make new music. You can hear it in his voice.”

“I haven’t been this excited about a Liam tune since (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? came out. My mum bought it for me for my 14th birthday and I listened to it so much I wore out the CD and saved up to buy two more copies, just incase. Be Here Now was just as exciting, but it was pretty clear the album was pants, though there was a few good tunes. I lost interest in that one after a couple of weeks.”

“The underwhelming reaction to BHN and the growing soap opera drama between Liam and Noel saw an older Peter explore other bands. “I got into Coldplay before they became pretentious, stadium-filling sell outs, I liked Travis and Stereophonics for a while, and I adored Muse’s elaborate stadium/prog/art rock. I don’t even remember Oasis breaking up. I know that Liam and Noel had one final bust up, but by then I didn’t care.”

It wasn’t until Peter discovered Liam’s solo MTV Unplugged album during lockdown that he fell back in love with ‘RKid’.

“I was amazed that Liam’s voice still had that unique ‘Liamness’, I liked his solo stuff, and it was great to hear his take on old Oasis tunes like ‘Sad Song‘”

From there Peter dived into Liam’s solo albums, a bit of Beady Eye, a bit of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Oasis’ post-Be Here Now albums, the highly anticipated Oasis Knebworth live album, and became fully ‘mad fer it’ again.

“I was always a ‘Liamhead’ growing up, so Noel’s solo stuff didn’t interest me too much. He’s a wanker,” said Peter.

Ever since, Peter’s been busy on the aforementioned Oasis and Liam fan pages, reminiscing about his favourite Oasis songs with other fans.

However, unlike some fans, Peter doesn’t want Oasis to reunite. “Honestly, I don’t see the point. Even if Liam and Noel started talking again, there’s still a long road to a reunion. And the hype over the reunion gigs would be suffocating. Best to let the past be the past. Liam and Noel play enough Oasis tunes to keep the old songs alive.”

Meanwhile, Peter is hoping Liam does a full tour of Australia on his next album run (C’mon You Know).
