Desperate to solve their injury-and-suspension crisis, the Canberra Raiders attempted to get John Bateman back from Wigan. However, due to a typo, they ended up with Michael Keaton.
“My agent forwarded me this email from the Wigan Warriors. It said ‘Dear Wigan, Ricky and the Canberra Raiders need John Batman back ASAP! Please!'” said Keaton. “I don’t know who ‘John’ is, but I’m know that I’m Batman, so I said yes. I love Australia and I’ve always wanted to make a movie down under.”
While Keaton was surprised that he wasn’t shooting a movie, and instead was training with the Canberra Raiders, he wasn’t phased.
“This rugby game looks kinda fun. The Raiders boys took me through my paces and it’s pretty similar to American Football, so I’m down for it.”
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart, while disappointed not to get Bateman, is willing to give Keaton a shot, starting this Saturday night against Melbourne.
“I’ll be honest, we can’t afford to be picky right now, and Michael’s in brilliant shape for a guy who’s nearly 70, so we’ll give him a run off the bench. See what happens.”
To celebrate Keaton’s arrival, GIO Stadium Canberra will be renamed GIO Bruce Wayne Stadium.
