F1 2023 - Fabi Preview Index Feature Image

The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.

So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.

FAST 9/10

With no slow corners except a couple of chicanes to stop the cars reaching ridiculous speeds, the Monza track is the original temple of speed.

ACTION 7/10

Aside from the speed, if they get the overtaking devices right, there should be a few decent spots for overtaking, if they can get close enough to each other. The tight first chicane is usually good for action too.

BIG HISTORY 10/10

Been on the calendar just about every year since the Championship began in 1950 so it barely gets more historic.

INCLEMENT WEATHER  4/10

Weather Channel says it’s dry and hot – in the thirties for maximum. So the hotter weather can throw up some strategy differentials, which should also help the action above.

RACE POTENTIAL RATING 75% – Classic, genuinely fast, historic. With a Championship battle brewing. What’s not to like?

2026 Italian F1 Grand Prix Prix-view – Ratings Summary

We’ve taken a pile of race and qualifying stats from this season, previous seasons, and various other F1 related stats and combined up all of our calculations of various points for racing well, qualifying high up the grid, and beating your team mate. The driver with the highest total gets our tick of approval, and subsequent drivers are rated against the top score.

2613 Italian GP Ratings

RATINGS VERDICT: Stats say Kimi Antonelli is still top but Lando Norris’ recent form is closing in, and Ferraris at home are in the picture. It’s not been a great track for Kimi, as he qualified 7th and finished 9th in his first home race after much hype, and he crashed in practice on his F1 weekend debut in 2024. Note that Yuki Tsunoda has been included in case Isack Hadjar can’t race.
