Time to separate the rugby league Wheat/Chaff or the NRL Mutton/Lamb and Dolphins/Sharks for our 2026 NRL Round 20 Team of the Week & Player Stats.
First up is the Team of the Week, which takes some of the key player stats from the weekend and using various scoring methods come up with the best players in their positions from the latest round of the NRL.
Then there’s additional player stats from this weekend that was and the season that is.
Then, we have a new Player Ratings system that’s even better and more complicated.
It’s got more science and math, and less bias than a pair of Dally M judges.
2026 NRL Round 20 Team of the Week
We’ve used the stats for each position and picked the best starting 13 players from the most recent round, the stats and points assigned are explained at the end.
On top of the best starting 13, we also include the best four interchange players of the week. Seeing who has provided maximum impact from the bench.
And a few of the players we thought the stats were a little too harsh on. Or just super bias on players we love.
Sometimes, the stats don’t get it quite right, but they are easy to blame.

2026 NRL Season Team of the Year
Same stats and calculations as above, but for the overall season so far.

All New 2026 Gurgler NRL Player Ratings
For a while now The Gurgler has been developing a Player Rating system for each NRL match, so why not test it now after one of the biggest games of the season.
We use stats and zero slats to determine a score out of ten for each player. The stats and weighting of stats change per position to make it fair. And worth noting that to get a 10/10 you have to be almost perfect in every way. A full explanation on the stats and weighting is at the end.
It will be different to our Team of the Week/Season as it is using different stats and weightings.
