FOOTBALL | 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9

Worth slightly less than a transfer window, on a run better than Liverpool, playing in a formation that was unfashionable and illegal 60 years ago, and safer in our job than any other Australian, it’s our 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9.

Each gameweek in this 2025-26 Premier League season we offer up a stat filled prediction preview, with some barely interesting stats and visuals, just enough to bluff your way through various tipping competitions or betting shops.

We also attempted to guess the final Premier League ladder in advance. Follow the link to that here.

Barely Interesting Stats – 2025-26 Premier League Predictions Week 9 – Stats and Thoughts

Help yourself to a buffet of barely interesting stats, quick one liners and more to help pick a winner.

BEST OF WEEK 9 STATS

Aston Villa have won their last two home games v Man City.
Everton are unbeaten in their last six home game v Spurs, although the last start win was the only non-draw.
Bournemouth’s 42% of Shots on Target v Shots taken is the Premier League best so far.
Brighton have won six of the last seven games v Man Utd

FRI 8PM – LEEDS v WEST HAM

STATS: West Ham (W2 D2) are unbeaten in their last four trips to Leeds. West Ham (W1 D2) are also unbeaten v Leeds on a Friday. Both of these teams scored zero goals last weekend, but the expected goals was quite different – Leeds’ effort was rated 2.33 while West Ham’s was a weekend low point of 0.26. West Ham have lost their only game this season v promoted clubs. West Ham are 1/1 v bottom six clubs while Leeds are W1 L2.

Verdict: Could be a great way to start the weekend of football. Unless you are Nuno, and West Ham lose.

Leeds 1 West Ham 2

SAT 3PM – NEWCASTLE v FULHAM

STATS: Fulham did the double over Newcastle last season.

Verdict: It’s just not that interesting.

Newcastle 2 Fulham 0

SAT 3PM – CHELSEA v SUNDERLAND

STATS: Chelsea have won their past three home games v Sunderland by 3-1, 5-1, 5-1. Sunderland have lost their only game v big six club and Chelsea are yet to play a promoted side.

Verdict: Chelsea couldn’t beat Ipswich last season, the only positive from a season of pain.

Chelsea 3 Sunderland 0

SAT 5:30PM – MAN UTD v BRIGHTON

STATS: Brighton have won six of the last seven games v Man Utd, losing just once in that run. Brighton have won the last three games at Man Utd – 3-1, 2-1, 2-1. Man Utd have lost only one Saturday game v Brighton at home (W8 D3 L1).

Verdict: Local barbers in Manchester are getting ready for old mate with the no-haircut pledge until Man Utd win five in a row. If that guy is from Manchester. Which he probably isn’t. Brighton do like to spoil parties though.

Man Utd 2 Brighton 1

SAT 8PM – BRENTFORD v LIVERPOOL

STATS: Liverpool have won five in a row v Brentford, and Brentford have scored just once in that five-game run. Liverpool (W6 D2) are unbeaten in the last eight Saturday games v Brentford. Liverpool have lost both of their games away to London clubs.

Verdict: Crisis club Liverpool visit a team who lose every odd numbered game week.

Brentford 1 Liverpool 2

SUN 2PM – WOLVES v BURNLEY

STATS: You have to go down to the Regional League Southern Premier Division Central and Stamford AFC to find the next lowest football club in the UK system who haven’t won a game after Wolves. Every second game between these sides at Wolves has ended in a draw for the last six, and another draw is due. Half of the last 12 games between these sides anywhere have ended in a draw. Wolves record at home on a Sunday to Burnley is W3 D1 L1. Wolves have drawn their only Sunday game this season while Burnley have lost both of theirs.

Verdict: Why this game isn’t Saturday 3pm is beyond me. And beyond scoring.

Wolves 0 Burnley 0

SUN 2PM – BOURNEMOUTH v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

STATS: Bournemouth’s 42% of Shots on Target v Shots taken is the Premier League best so far. Bournemouth (W6 D4) are unbeaten v Nottingham Forest over the past ten games. Bournemouth (W7 D3 L1) have lost only once at home in their last 11 matches v Nottingham Forest. The only game between these sides on a Sunday ended as a draw. New manager Sean Dyche’s record v Bournemouth is W8 D2 L6. Bournemouth are W2 D1 v bottom six clubs this season. Forest are L2 v top six clubs.

Verdict: Who’d thought that when Forest were knocking on the door of Champions League last season the answer would end up being Sean Dyche. Or that Bournemouth would replace them as the plucky small club outsider for UCL.

Bournemouth 3 Nott’m Forest 0

SUN 2PM – ARSENAL v CRYSTAL PALACE

STATS: Crystal Palace are leading the Premier League for Expected goals, and are seven goals fewer than xG says. No team has a lower Expected goals against than Arsenal whose three goals conceded is 2.5 fewer than xG says. Last start draw between these sides broke a run of five straight wins for Arsenal. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last six home games v Crystal Palace, but only two of them are wins. Arsenal (W5 D4 L1) have lost only one of the 10 Sunday clashes v Crystal Palace, but won only one of the last four. At home on a Sunday v Crystal Palace it is (W3 D3 L1).

Verdict: Probably game of the round.

Arsenal 1 Crystal Palace 1

SUN 2PM – ASTON VILLA v MAN CITY

STATS: Aston Villa have won their last two home games v Man City. Man City are unbeaten (W4 D1) in their last five games on a Sunday v Aston Villa. Aston Villa are 1/1 v big six clubs this season (last weekend’s win v Spurs). Man City are 3/3 v middle eight teams.

Verdict: Both teams recovering nicely after poor starts. A tough one to predict.

Aston Villa 0 Man City 2

SUN 4:30PM – EVERTON v TOTTENHAM

STATS: Everton are one of two teams to still have a 100% record on a Sunday this season, and unlike West Ham, they have played games on a Sunday (as opposed to West Ham’s one). Spurs have lost their only Sunday game. Everton are unbeaten in their last six home game v Spurs, although the last start win was the only non-draw. Nine of the last 13 games between Everton and Spurs at Everton have ended in a draw. Overall on a Sunday at Everton the results are two wins each and seven draws. Everton (W2 D3) are unbeaten v Spurs in their last five meetings.

Verdict: An Everton upset ambush is on here.

Everton 3 Spurs 1
