Here are the choicest cuts of barely interesting stats from the first week of the NRL Finals.
- Canberra confirm that no team who concedes 50 points in a season can win the comp.
- The last three teams to be Minor Premiers and lose consecutive games in the finals were 16 years apart – 1993, 2009, 2025. Good news for Canberra is the 1993 and 2009 teams made the Grand Final the following year and the 2010 – Dragons – won the title.
- Cronulla have only won two of their last 17 away finals games, with both wins coming against Canberra.
- Canberra have now lost their last four finals games.
- Cronulla are now W9 L1 in the post Origin period.
- Bulldogs were W5 L6 in the post Origin period.
- Bulldogs have lost their last six finals games with a last win in 2015.
- Whilst it helps to win a lot of Grand Finals, Penrith are still W10 L1 on a Sunday in Finals.
- Penrith have won their last four away Finals games.
- Penrith have won ten Sunday games in a row, and have won all Sunday games this season.
- Of the four teams remaining in the 2025 title hunt, only Melbourne haven’t spent time in the bottom half of the table at some stage.
