F1 heads over to the USA for the first of three races for the season, with this Miami race being by far the most pointless, and self-serving, celebrity-enticing race of the season. The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.

So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.

FAST? 4 / 10 – If you squint your eyes just enough, you can see that the Miami circuit looks like the head of an Alligator or Crocodile. Which being in Florida is quite apt. As for fast there’s a few fast corners and long-ish straights. But it is no Saudi Arabia fastest street track in the world.

What shouldn’t be lost is the Track Stats image below in our article is from a very early F1 computer game but yet still looks like the Miami track.

ACTION? 6 / 10 – This section gets a couple more points than it probably deserves because there’s a sprint race. But Sprint Races are pretty dull in general anywhere. Like the feature races in Miami feel like. An extra point for the Martin Brundle gridwalk as it probably will be the most awkward of the season.

BIG HISTORY? – 3 / 10 – To a degree there is some history for this track, it harks back to the 1980’s when US Grands Prix were run on uninspiring layouts in places you wouldn’t expect. Like Pheonix and Dallas. Detroit was a host city that made sense, but the track sucked.

INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 4 /10 The Weather Channel says there’s a 46% chance of rain on the Sunday with a potential for storms.

RACE POTENTIAL RATING 43% – A circuit around a football stadium doesn’t inspire, but a late storm might.

No driver has won from pole position. Ther winner has come from 3rd, 5th and 9th.
Driver qualifying 20th has scored points on two occasions.
