The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.
So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.
FAST? 7 / 10 – Whilst not the outright fastest track, the proximity of the walls makes it look fast, and the new improved back straight and sweepers is a wonderful section of Formula 1 track to watch the new cars on.
ACTION? 9 / 10 – Albert Park is a track where stuff often happens, and throw in the fact it is the first race of the season you are almost guaranteed action-a-plenty.
BIG HISTORY? – 7 / 10 – The Australian Grand Prix has been around since 1985 and been in Melbourne since 1996, so it has quite the history of modern tracks. The fact it hosted the opening round of the season for a long time means the races stick in the mind more than other tracks.
INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 7 /10 The Weather Channel say 43% chance of rain on the Sunday and 31% chance for the Friday. Saturday is only 18%, but it is Melbourne, and there could be four seasons. Not weather, not the band.
RACE POTENTIAL RATING 75% – So much to like, and no reason not to join in for the first race of the season. Unless you prefer Netflix.

2025 Australian F1 Grand Prix Preview – Stats Summary

- Max Verstappen has retired from two of his last three visits here.
- Just two of the last ten pole sitters at Albert Park have won the race. Overall it is 10 wins from 22 starts. Pole sitters have failed to finish four times.
- Despite driving a bunch of underwhelming cars, Nico Hulkenberg has finished in the points in seven of his last eight races here. Five of those times in 7th.
- Lewis Hamilton has finished 2nd in five of his last seven starts here. He took six consecutive poles between 2014 and 2019 and won just once.
- Pierre Gasly has been surprisingly terrible in qualifying at Albert Park. He has the worst average grid slot for the drivers who have driven there in F1.
