A ‘proud Aussie bloke’ has fallen in love with a new family member.
Terry ‘Tezza’ Brady loves his family, his Brisbane Broncos, beer, punting on weekends, working hard at his job, and playing cricket for his sixth grade team (as a capable wicketkeeper and lower-order bat).
But he was against his family’s idea to get a new kitten.
“He’s never had a cat and was worried about all the extra cost it’d bring,” said his wife Sarah. “As well as all the extra chores.”
Though the family went ahead and got the kitten – named Mister Whiskers – and Terry’s outlook changed immediately.
“It was love at first sight,” said Sarah. “As soon as Mister Whiskers looked at him it was all over.”
While he was meant to be a family cat, Mister Whiskers spends all his time with Tezza.
“It’s like Mister Whiskers knew Terry had never had a cat before and gravitated to him,” said Sarah. “And all the little things he was worried about? Not a problem anymore. He buys Mister Whiskers the best wet food, regularly changes his litter, and spent an obscene amount on cat toys and a huge cat tower the other day. I haven’t seen Terry this in love since we first started dating.”
Mister Whiskers’ favourite activity is to sit on Terry’s should while he watches footy or cricket.
“Whenever Terry cheers as the TV, Mister Whiskers meows along, like he’s cheering too. It’s so funny. Terry’s even looking at buy him a little Broncos jersey, which is too precious. And Mister Whiskers always sleeps on Terry’s side of the bed!”
Though it’s not all good news.
“The baby talk from Terry is doing my head in,” said Sarah, “whenever he comes home from work, he goes straight to Mister Whiskers and says nonsense stuff like, ‘Did you miss daddy? Daddy missed you? Who’s daddy’s special little baby?’ Apparently his mates at work are ripping into him for being so soft. But Terry doesn’t care – even though his image of being a ‘proud Aussie bloke’ has been shattered.”
Everyday News Staff Writers wanted to interview Terry, but he was too busy playing with Mister Whiskers.
