Welcome to our weekly look at the upcoming weekend of NRL, handy for those still suffering a hangover of alcohol and/or disappointment following State of Origin Two. Talking of disappointment, here’s our NRL Round 16 Predictions Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

This week it’s based on post Origin Two game form since we’re still in the mood.

2022 NRL Round 16 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Melbourne are on a six game winning streak v Manly. They have also won the only Thursday clash.

The Storm have won their past two away Thursday games v Sydney sides by a combined 96-0.

Manly have won just one of six Thursday night games at home.

Gold Coast last beat Newcastle as the away side in 2016.

Titans have lost ten straight away games.

Based on ladder position at the time of the match – no team has played a top eight side more than the Titans (12). They have lost all 12 matches v top eight sides. The good news is they are 3/3 v bottom eight sides this season.

Newcastle last beat a Queensland team on a Friday in 2013 – five games ago.

Penrith haven’t lost to the Roosters since before Nathan Cleary got banned for his Covid Tik Tok dance session.

Penrith’s worst winning % Day since 2020 is Friday.

Roosters have lost all seven away games on a Friday to Sydney opposition since 2020.

Bulldogs have won four of the last five v Sharks on a Saturday.

Sharks have scored 16 or 18 six of the last eight times they’ve played on a Saturday.

John Howard was still PM when the Broncos last won in Townsville on a Saturday – 2005.

Brisbane have won just one of their last ten away games on a Saturday.

Cowboys have won ten in a row on a Saturday v Qld teams. Their last loss was to the Gold Coast in 2012.

Souths are on a four game winning streak v Parramatta H2H, and on a Saturday. They are also on a seven game winning streak at the Olympic Stadium on a Saturday.

Not to spoil the party, but the Warriors have won just one of their last eight games at Mt Smart Stadium. And they last won a Sunday game at Mt Smart in April 2017.

Warriors have won four in a row v Wests Tigers but the games have been decided by 4, 2, 4 and 6 points.

Wests Tigers have won just one of their last nine away games and all of their last five on a Sunday.

Canberra has the worst winning record after the second game of State of Origin II going back to 2010. Just one win from nine outings.

Canberra have won ten of the last 13 games against the Dragons on a Sunday.
