While it’s still two weeks from NRL round one, an excitable Canberra Raiders fan is already saving up for grand final tickets.
Emboldened by the Raiders’ strong trial wins over the Sydney Roosters and Manly Warringah, lifelong Milk fan Andrew Ellcat is convinced that 2022 is the year that Canberra will break their almost 30-year premiership drought.
“Mate, last year was a nightmare, but I was super impressed by the Eagles win. Jamal looked good, Jack started running the footy again, Nicky scored a try, and Tommy Starling was electric from dummy half. We’re absolute morals this year! And don’t give me that ‘it’s only a trial’ nonsense! Winning form is winning form.”
Andrew will spend the next two weeks practicing the Viking Clap in time for the Raiders’ opening home game against Cronulla-Sutherland. as well as watching his DVDs of the 1989, 1990, and 1994 premierships on repeat.
