Inspired by the blatant advertising during the otherwise excellent Indian Premier League, NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has revealed the game’s jazzier broadcasting approach for point-scoring plays.
From 2022, all Fox League and Channel Nein commentators must use the following terms:
– Red Rooster Tremendous Try
– Bundaberg Rum Great Goal
– Harvey Norman Outstanding One-Point Field Goal
– Chemist Warehouse Tantalising Two-Point Field Goal
“This will be a fantastic way to increase exposure for our loyal sponsors and to ‘sex up’ the footy commentary. Plus it opens up avenues for new sponsors to get unparalleled exposure through The Greatest Game of All,” said Abdo.
However, Adbo also had a stern warning. “Any commentators will refuse to use these terms will be immediately terminated. If they forget and quickly correct themselves, then they’ll only get a warning.”
Abdo had to suddenly finish the interview as he had to pick up a new Scrooge McDuck-esque vault for the truckloads of money from the new sponsorship exposure.
Channel Nein have added an extra sponsorship opportunity, with CC’s You Can’t Say No, No, No, No, No Moment of the Night, where Phil Gould will pick the most head-shaking or absurd play of the game, the one that made him say “No, no, no, no, no.”
