FPL | FPL Captain Picks GW3 & Fantasy Premier League Stats

The 2021-22 Fantasy Premier League season is underway, and for those who didn’t have both Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes or no West Ham players and are just about to press the panic button we offer up our FPL Captain Picks GW3 & Stats.

This week and every week we have our own in-house way of choosing the best of the best to wear the armband for your Fantasy Premier League side.

Those double points prove vital to a top 10K finish, and so you should be armed with as much information as possible.

Usually it boils down to Salah v Bruno but a certain few London clubs are offering something fresh as a Captain choice. Not Arsenal of course.

Speaking of Arsenal, there’s not a Man City midfielder in sight for our Captain’s table, which may prove foolish. Although, it’s hard to keep up with the rotation. Imagine if they hired a Ronaldo or someone like that.

For now, help yourself to a seat at the FPL Captain Picks GW3 Captain’s Table.

Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW3 results. A full explanation of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.

We show only the top ten, the entire data is determined by our selection of the top 30 or so potential captain choices.

Stats are based on GW2 current state except for scoring records.

FPL Captain Picks GW3 Analysis

Last weekend looked like it was going to be a battle of Bruno Fernandes v Mo Salah and both didn’t return a bag of FPL points. Bruno in particular looked a little out of sorts.

As ever these two FPL warriors are around the top of the Captain’s Table, but not at the very top this GW.

That is taken by Michail Antonio whose score is the second highest Captain’s Table figure ever. And he is well worth giving the armband to this weekend.

Antonio tops a number of stats fields for FPL as of last round, and is in red hot goals/assist scoring in general this season, plus Antonio has a very good return against Crystal Palace. So many boxes ticked. Including the non FPL box of best goal celebration so far this season.

The reason we are not on board with Mo Salah, or any other Liverpool / Chelsea player is the fixture. Big six games last season tended to be low scoring affairs. Perhaps Chelsea v Liverpool isn’t quite the same as other games – so says the 5-3 win to Liverpool in July 2020. But we still maintain that all Big Six games tend to be a bit cagey which is no good for FPL from attackers.

Maybe given it may be more defensive, perhaps this brings in Trent Alexander-Arnold for consideration for a potential clean sheet and an assist.

Whilst still a great option, Bruno Fernandes is not our captain choice this week as the Wolves v Man Utd game doesn’t look to have that many goals in it. Prior to the most recent match between Man Utd and Wolves, it was three goals in five goals

As for the best of the rest DCL is in great form for Everton and Brighton looks like an easier game on paper than some of the others. Well a Brighton game did look easier in previous season but the Seagulls look a different side this season. And they are yet to lose to Everton at home since returning to the Premier League.

Paul Pogba still rates highly, but the only worry is one isn’t sure whether this week he is still interested for Man Utd. The transfer window is still open however.

For your consideration are the below key stats from last season’s FPL for the Top Ten players from our Captain’s Table.

FPL Captain Picks GW3 – Other Stats

2021-22 SEASON STATS SO FAR

Before one ventures into the new gameweek, how about a review of who is doing the best at the moment across a wide range of key stats.

We’ve hand picked the best of them from last weekend’s action.

CHANCES CREATED

Almost a forgotten man of FPL this season Mason Mount tops the Big Chances created, and with the arrival of Lukaku he may be worth more consideration.

A big surprise is that Wolves are second in the Chances created by team, despite having not scored a point or a goal yet.

Matt Ritchie from Newcastle is up high too, and with a sharp shooter like Callum Wilson in the side it may be just a a matter of time before that clicks. the 5.0 price tag for a Newcastle defender however doesn’t excite.

TOUCHES

Mason Mount tops another of our FPL stats just ahead of new Man City player Jack Grealish whose touch total doesn’t surprise but who has yet to impress for his new club.

Loads of touches for Adama Traore but no goals yet. Perhaps this is the week.

SHOTS

Who’d think that West Ham’s Soucek and Craig Dawson would be leading the Premier League (along with DCL) for shots in the six yard box. Maybe that’s why West Ham are going so well. That and the big man at the front.

Value pick from Brighton Shane Duffy is right up there too, but how long will it last?

Clutching at straws for reasons to keep Brentford’s Ivan Toney you will see he has two shots inside the six yard box, so hopefully he starts staying up the field a bit more.

Incredible to a degree is that Wolves are second for shots with 42. They haven’t scored a goal yet, so is now a time to get on board as eventually the luck will change.

Top Player get a maximum of 10 points and awarded on a sliding scale from there.

Match Rater – in addition to our Captain’s Table we have also devised our own Premier League Fixture Difficulty which we have included for a max 10 points. Because we think that game itself should be rated as well.

Total all the scores are combined for an overall total. Maximum is 100.
