Wondering which Premier League side has the easiest or hardest set of upcoming fixtures? Well allow us to present our Week 23 Premier League Fixtures Difficulty Rating.
Proud partners of The Gurgler – S&C Sports Data – have come up with a measure to judge the difficulty factor for each team over the next three games. Not just with current table position, but historical results and more.
We could go further, but we think three games provides just enough window for FPL players, late night sports fans in Australia and around the world, or multi loving gamblers alike.
How our Premier League Fixtures Difficulty Rating works….
S&C Sports Data have data from 10 seasons of Premier League, and created a measure of each team’s head to head record over that period, on a sliding scale from current day backwards.
Then the team in question and the opposition’s overall and recent form is taken into consideration, including measuring the relative form of the two sides.
The Match Rater 3000 score is then produced, with a range of 1 being the easiest possible fixture up to 10 for the hardest.
So the S&C measure combines many fields to give an overall picture for the next three games.

Upcoming Three Game Rating
- Bournemouth are in the bottom three, and again have the season’s record for lowest three game difficulty rating. But they broke that record first last weekend and were poor against lower ranked (at the time) Watford.
- A lot of bottom teams have easy runs over the next three. A great time to make a charge toward the midfield. Except Burnley and West Ham.
- Man Utd have the toughest run of the big teams, but that suits them anyway.
- Wolves have the hardest fixture run over the next three. Playing Liverpool won’t help.

Which team in Overperforming / Underperforming against our Difficulty Rating?
We have gone back through our difficulty ratings so far this season, and worked out the potential points each team could have scored, and then have a comparison ready for mild interest.
Our predictions were a little hard on Newcastle and Southampton, but no surprise that Sheffield Utd are out-performing our predictions. Watford have turned it around too.
Down the other end, our data clearly shows that we think Chelsea were much better than they actually are this year, but some north London and Manchester clubs are underperforming with our measure too.
