Who Cares Midweek Football League Predictions October 23 – 24

There’s nothing more we like than a full program of boredom busting midweek Football League fixtures, except for making our Midweek Football League Predictions.

With 36 games to be played over mostly early Wednesday morning Australian time and a few on Thursday along with some Champions League, there’s almost too much football. Almost.

As eve, we think we know everything, so we offer up our Midweek Football League Predictions.

And Who Cares? We do, and you should too.

What happened in the Football League on the Weekend?

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the big ticket items from the weekend.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesbrough stole the Championship lead as the next three sides all lost (Sheffield Utd, West Brom, Leeds Utd).

Behind those four there are just five points between Derby County (5th) and Bolton (18th).

Our beloved Ipswich Town look in real danger of slipping into League One. Oh, to have the mid table mediocrity back.

LEAGUE ONE

Portsmouth have opened up a nice six point gap to second (Peterborough) and the rest of the top six are within another two points.

One of those top six sides is minnows Accrington Stanley, the Football League’s story of the season. They are on equal points with big name Sunderland.

Bad news for our favourite League One side AFC Wimbledon who dropped into the bottom four. Worse for Plymouth who loss to Burton at home, a side who previously hadn’t got a point away.

LEAGUE TWO

None of the top three won, but Lincoln remain on top, four points clear of Exeter and one more to Newport.

Macclesfield might still be last, but they won their first game on the weekend, the last team to do so in the Football League.

Bad weekend for Harry Kewell whose new side Notts County lost 4-0 to Bury and old team climbed to 8th with a 4-1 win over Newport.
