The Farmer from Shaun the Sheep Wins 2017 Gurgler Person of the Year

The Farmer from Shaun the Sheep has won the 2017 Gurgler Person of the Year after the readers have voted them the deserving winner of this year's big poll.

2017 person of the year winner

The votes are in and The Farmer from Shaun the Sheep is a surprise winner of the Gurgler’s 2017 Person of the Year.

The grumpy, cartoon farmer with glasses but no eyes has seen off a fast finishing Roy and HG, and PNG Rugby League hero Willie Minoga.

Proving once and for all that The Gurgler celebrates the forgotten or forgettable, a cartoon character has been named our readers favourite person from 2017. In an indication of the kind of year 2017 was, there was three times as many votes for Jerk of the Year won Donald Trump, Bernard Tomic and Jarryd Hayne. Hopefully 2018 can be a year where the good is three times more than the Jerks.

Roy and HG and Willie Minoga got within one vote of the Farmer, and happily we can expect more of the good stuff from both next year with Roy and HG continuing on Triple M on Sunday mornings and Willie Minoga due to tear it up in the 2018 Intrust Super Cup.

Further back Brad the Traffic Guy will also continue to deliver quality radio on the ABC, just the way we like it.

So who says the three runners up won’t be here again for 2018.

But time to salute The Farmer from Shaun the Sheep, the 2017 Gurgler Person of the Year.

Here are the final results for the big poll.
