EPL Matchweek 8 Predictions – Gurgler v Title Wins for each Team

Time for our tips, thoughts and more on the Week ahead for the EPL Matchweek 8

EPL Matchweek 9

Time for our weekly EPL bit and pieces plus our EPL Matchweek 8 Predictions.

Hard to believe the season has been going for as long as it has and we are only heading into the 8th round of fixtures. A long season ahead, but thankfully that means plenty of midweek action just the way we like it.

After al the excitement of the International break for Australian Football fans, it is nice to get back into the late night habits of following the EPL.

Before we get into what we’ve selected and our slightly absurd method of selecting opponent tips, here’s a few of our favourite things.

A FEW OUR OF FAVOURITE THINGS FOR THE EPL MATCHWEEK 8 AHEAD

FTA GAME in AUSTRALIALIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER UNITED – A premium game for those without Optus Sport, and what a game it promises to be. A real test for both sides. Can Liverpool stop conceding goals and win like they did against Arsenal earlier in the season (4-0) and continue a good run against the top teams. Or are Manchester United that well drilled this year that they sweep aside Liverpool’s questionable defending, Hopefully it lives up to the hype like so few big games do.

CHELSEA v CRYSTAL PALACE – Can Crystal Palace score a point or goal v Chelsea? And when will it happen? They still have Newcastle (A), West Ham (H) and Spurs (A) to come after this match. Palace may be on the way for the worst EPL seasons ever.

3pm KICK OFFS DON’T SUCK FOR A CHANGE – A rare decent Saturday evening this week as fans in Australia will get to see 3 of the top 6 in the traditional 3pm timeslot. Throw in the early game between Liverpool and Manchester United and it makes for a great weekend and a little more sleep back. The big teams are usually reserved for Sunday games, so nice to have all the big team on a Saturday for a change.

GURGLER’S EPL TIPPING COMPETITION

Each week we will put our tips up against an opponent, just like Lawro’s tips on the BBC Football website. But instead of having famous comedian and musicians we’ve never heard of, we put our tips up against a different type of opponent.

We determine tips based on some ridiculous premise or statistic, and we then see if arse truly beat class.

This week’s opponent is based on the nationality of players since we’re heading into an International break.

OUR EPL MATCHWEEK 8 PREDICTIONS

Onto our selections for the round ahead, with added scores to take on Lawro from the BBC. Our tips were great last weekend with 8 correct, can we do it again or better? Of course we can. We got one correct score too, and our bold predictions for score are alongside our weekly tips.

LIVERPOOL to beat Manchester Utd (2-1)
MANCHESTER CITY to beat Stoke (3-1)
BURNLEY to beat West Ham (2-0)
CHELSEA to beat Crystal Palce (3-0)
SWANSEA to beat Huddersfield (1-0)
SPURS to beat Bournemouth (3-1)
WATFORD to beat Arsenal (2-0)
DRAW – Brighton v Everton (0-0)
DRAW – Southampton v Newcastle (0-0)
LEICESTER to beat West Brom (2-0)

EPL MATCHWEEK 8 PREDICTIONS – USING NUMBER OF TITLE WON BY EACH TEAM

Given the big game this week is between two of the EPL’s biggest title winner, why not base our opponent tip on which team has won the most titles in each head to head.

We have included all division titles down to League Two, and the FA Cup and League Cup. Also included is the major European trophies. Events like the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup are not included as there are only ever two teams involved.

Throwing in some lower league titles adds a few surprises, but it also highlights how little supporters of some clubs have won over the years. Tough times for some, and others just join a winning bandwagon.

Anyways, here are our opponent tips for the week, number of titles won in brackets.

LIVERPOOL (44) to beat Manchester United (42)
MANCHESTER CITY (21) to beat Stoke (7)
BURNLEY (8) to beat West Ham (6)
CHELSEA (24) to beat Crystal Palace (3)
DRAW – Swansea (5) v Huddersfield (5)
SPURS (19) to beat Bournemouth (4)
ARSENAL (29) to beat Watford (2)
EVERTON (16) to beat Brighton (5)
NEWCASTLE (14) to beat Southampton (4)
LEICESTER (11) to beat West Brom (10)
