Bet-Thurst 1000 – Our 2017 Bathurst 1000 Betting Guide

The Great Race of Australian Motorsport needs a great betting guide, unfortunately you'll have to settle for ours.

2017 bathurst 1000

The Australian Motor Race that sloths a nation is here this weekend, and if you’re not in the mood yet with the 24 Hour Bathurst Channel on Fox Sports, then why not kill some time with our Bet-Thurst 1000 2017 Bathurst 1000 Betting Guide. Then go back to the 24 Hour Bathurst 1000 Channel.

Nothing accompanies a sporting event which takes most of the daylight hours better than a little wager on the side, with the exception of any cricket on Channel Nein which no amount of gambling can improve.

The Bathurst 1000 provides one of those guilty Sundays on the lounge, starting with the mandatory “every Australian must watch the start and first few laps” and ending with subtly taking ownership of the TV for the day. The backwards facing Andy Capp-esque nap is the only downtime throughout the day.

You could have a few beers, and why not, but perhaps you don’t want to look like too much of an alcoholic by having a few “eye openers”, so placing a few bets will pass the time nicely.

Below in our Bet-Thurst 1000 Betting Guide, we go through the more interesting betting types, and put our money where our mouth is with our 1000 cents worth of bets.

INTERESTING BET-THURST 1000 BETTING OPTIONS

Here’s our list of mildly interesting and amusing things you can bet on for the 2017 Bathurst 1000. It doesn’t require too much thought, as that’s not what you want for Bathurst 1000 Slothday. Odds courtesy of Sportsbet or William Hill.

FASTEST LAPS

There is nothing more pointless than some cars late in the race having nothing to lose by going for the fastest lap. It could happen on lap 1 or 161. Or anywhere in between, which makes it so interesting. A live bet all day, just the way we like it.

From $3.60 for McLaughlin to $501 for Rullo/A Davison.

We tip :  Whincup $4.20

LEADERS AFTER 10/50/100 LAPS

One of the best betting options available. Who knows with the usual amount of chaos where any of the usual front runners goes for a pitstop. Odds tend to favour the overall winning drivers at cars.

We Tip:

10 Laps: Mostert $8
50 Laps: Whincup $4.20
100 Laps: Lowndes $11

TOP HOLDEN/NISSAN/FORD

You can bet on some good fashioned intra-team garage showdown by picking on driver per manufacturer.

We tip: Holden – Whincup $2.87 / Ford – Winterbottom $7 / Nissan – T Kelly/Le Brocq $4.33
